I have a 6 month old and i'm tired of the smell of( or lack of) Dreft detergent.?
thanks.
Answer:
I never used Dreft for my son's clothing. I always used Tide, which is what I used on all our clothing, but I did not wash his clothes with ours. I had a load especially for his clothing and bedding. He never had a reaction, that is what I still use today on his clothing. And it smells really good, it comes in different scents as well, I recently bought some with Febreeze in it, it smells wonderful.
I never used dreft with my kids. The only skin irritationes either of my kids got was diaper rash. My youngest was really sensitive to her own urine...Anyways, go out and buy some Tide if you want. I've always used it for all of our clothes nad never had a problem.
With my first I was all worried and paranoid about this and that, witht he second I did her laundry with everyone else's and used the household detergetn (gain).
If she does not have skin problems just make your life easier and just use what you use on your clothes, just not too much of it.
We never did the Dreft thing. We just washed our babies' clothes with the rest of the family laundry, and watched carefully for any kind of allergic reaction. Never had a problem.
We do so much laundry anyway, the prospect of extra loads for the babe was daunting! And that Dreft stuff isn't cheap...
I stopped using Dreft when my son was 2-3 months old and I knew that he was not sensitive. I just get detergent that is sent and less harsh. I know that Costco has a good detergent called Kirkland Ultra Free and Clear. I have always used that. I also think that if you stick to one kind the chances of irritation are less.
I
Tide will do the job just fine but if you really want something light you can get All Free & Clear.
You can use something like Yes, or downy, honestly you can use anything you want. You just RINSE twice. Dreft is a rip off. Not everyone uses dreft. My mother didn't even have such a thing in 49. lol. I didn't even use dreft with my daughter, and she HAS eczema. All I did was rinse twice.
I used Dreft for years - I used it because it got out baby stains better and was better for their skin. My convenience wasn't a consideration. Try Ivory if you don't like Dreft liquid its almost as good.
By this time I was using regular detergent for my son. You can also use a little fabric softener. As long as it doesnt cause her skin to be irritated or anything.
i like the small of All Baby
I used Dreft for about 3 or 4 months then I switched to a dye free perfume free. Some say they are perfume free but the still have a nice light smell to them and don't irritate her skin. :)
I never used Dreft. I have always used Tide. I like the way is cleans the babies clothes. My mother tried to tell me only use Dreft but, I didn't listen because I thought it was a crazy. I told her I would only switch to Dreft if my son broke out in an allergic reaction. He is fine and healthy. I just wash all his clothes together. I also use dryer sheets and he is fine. only if your baby breaks out in a rash discontinue the use.
I got two things of dreft for my son as gifts when he was born. when they ran our and i forgot to use more...i used tide. he does have sensitive skin, and it has never given him a problem. it smells nice and clean. i honestly honestly feel that dreft and things like that are a gimmick unless your child has a really special need which is pretty rare. And at 6 months theyre not newborns anymore. Try your regular detergent. Or throw one or two things in with your laundry first and see if it comes out okay with the baby. It probably will. You can save money and use fresh smelling detergent. If youre set on it, though I know all has a detergent for children though I dont remember thinking it was all that great either =)
We wash all of our family laundry together in regular detergent and just do an extra, second rinse on the loads to get extra soaps and irritants out.
