10 week old baby not eating well. What to do?

My 10 week old baby is not eating well. She breastfeeds for 5 minutes then becomes fussy, does not take the bottle (she can’t master how to suck it). We tried syringe feeding but she becomes frustrated and starts crying. In total she eats about 1.5-2oz per feeding and is always hungry. Has any one been in the same situation? Any advise? Thank you.

I had this problem with my first born. It was his stomach. There are drops you could give the baby called Mylicon or Mycilin (can't remember) Gas Drops. They are totally safe to give the baby. Also try messaging the babies stomach with their knees and moving their legs in a walking motion. This should relieve the pressure causing the baby to pass gas. Also, always burp the baby thoroughly. On another note, my son use to nurse for 5 minutes only and he was full (and quite a chunky baby). Don't worry!! The baby will eat when they are hungry. Sounds to me that the baby just has bit of discomfort.
My daughter was the same way and it turned out she had silent reflux (so she was refluxing but not spitting up) I am not saying this is what your daughter has but it is something you could bring up to your doctor.
First off, this is something you should be talking over with your pediatrician or lactation consultant.

One thing you didn't mention (and i'm not being rude) is does your baby have a tongue tie or some other abnormality that might be interferring with the way she feeds? (my son was tongue tied)

Is this something that has just come up? (If it is she may simply have a little bug that's upsetting her tummy, she's hungry, but what she's being fed may be upsetting her tummy making it uncomfortable for her) Is she perhaps gassy? Try different positions to burp her in (rule of thumb if baby doesn't move gas in 4 minutes of "burping" - whether that be rubbing or patting or whatever you and baby are comfortable with doing - chances are there is no gas to move) Maybe colic.

If this is something that's "always been" perhaps she has some type of allergy that may need to be looked into (if she's lactose intolerant...solely breast feeding but YOU'RE drinking milk, she'd still be getting the lactose to upset her tummy).

Unfortunately they're not real forthcoming when it comes to telling us what's going on, so it usually ends up being "Mommy's best guess"

Good Luck and take care :)
maybe your not producing enough milk. or your let down isn't fast enough for her... you should consult your lactationist they'll be able to give you more tips on what to do... also while nursing, i know it may be frusturating for you cuz she's crying and hungry and what not but make sure you don't let that show... stay calm and talk very softly to baby cuz when your stressed or nervise that tends to make the baby stressed and frusterated also... but your best bet is to talk to your lactationist... they were wonderful for me when i had questions about nursing my son... when my milk came in my breasts got HUGE! and my nipples didn't want to stick out so i had to train them with these cup things.. and then once home i kinda went through the same problems. it seemed like Ethan wasn't getting enough. so i called and told them i think im drying up or something.. and they told me the same thing i told you... stay calm and what not... i hope that helps a little... i wish you the best of luck and congradulations by the way on your buddle of joy...
