My 8 month learning how to eat finger foods?

My daughter is almost 8 mos. old and she still gets #2 foods and some #3 foods and i'm also giving her cherrios and she has no problem but its weird that she eats food she has had before and she gags on it like once in a feeding of one jar but she don't do it every feeding just woundering if it is just the change in texture for her or is she playing a game or what sometimes she throws up she drinks water out of a sippy cup but the same goes there she has never had no problems before I have gave her fresh banana bledned up like baby food and she has gaged on that. just want to know if that is normal for them to do that when starting finger foods.

My second child (a girl) had a really easy gag reflex. She didn't actually throw up, but would have that really crazy gag sound when I was feeding her baby food, that would crack me up for some reason. <---baaad mommie! lol Anyway, i think it does have something to do with the little thingy that hangs down in the middle of the throat. Seriously, tho, remember that it takes 4 back teeth to chew and grind food properly to go into the stomach. I was one of the silly mommies who thot it was really neat for my first one to want our food at the table before he had back teeth and he swallowed even soft foods whole. What a shame. It eventually came to irratate his digestive system. Foods came out into the diaper still in tack, but what did I expect? The stomach can't churn up food that hasn't been chewed properly. Anyway, you are doing so well still offering your baby water. Water is perfect for the bladder and kidneys and most children don't get enough. Banana is full of perfect vitamins that every person needs. My 109 year old pediatrician always recommended banana with each meal along with 2 T. applesauce, 2 T. pureed meat and 2 T. of veg. all mixed together and warmed nicely. You are doing so well. Listen to everyone but always think for yourself! God Bless.
My guess is that it is the texture that is bothering her, if it worries you though then you can just go back to #2 foods for a while. I don't think that throwing up is normla if it is happening regularly though and you might want to ask her doctor about it.
My son is 1 and does the same thing. That usually means for him that he's either done eating or he doesn't like what I'm feeding him. And if she doesn't have any teeth yet, she's still learning how to gum solid foods. But if she starts to gag again, it's better to stop feeding her that and try something else. You can always try again a different day.
don't worry so much it is normal they just haven't gotten use to it. she's only starting to get used to it. pretty soon she will be fine. just don't give her the food she gags on the most.
She's very young to be eating foods other than soft table foods (mashed potatoes and such). Maybe she needs smaller "bites". Since she is just learning and has limited teeth (no molars to properly chew with) make sure that her food is cut into very small bite portions.

Also, try products that are made for beginning eaters. I think Gerber has a selection of items that look like cereal but they dissolve so they're more easily eaten.

Above all, check with your pediatrician.
That is her way of deciding what she likes and dislikes. When my 2yr old was an infant he wouldn't eat bananas and now he does eat bananas
