How can I get my 10 month old to fall alseep in her crib?
Answer:
Ooo good question! With my first born we bathed him, gave him a bottle, warmed up his blankie in the dryer and layed him down after that. Within minutes he was passed out for the evening :) If your little one is having separation anxiety issues sometimes taking your shirt off and laying him down with that helps him to sleep alone, cause he can still smell you :)
Its not good for the development of her teeth to take the bottle while falling asleep but I always fed my baby a bottle with a little formula in it prior to bedtime to keep his belly full so he'd sleep through the night. I know its hard but there's really no other way to get her to fall asleep on her own except to let her cry it out. It'll be tough for the first couple of nights but thats about all it takes for her to get used to it and just fall asleep on her own. Its totally worth it though so hang in there. Sit by the door if you have to but once you lay her down don't let her see you, if she seems distressed you can make sure she has her pacifier but do NOT pick her up, no comforting from mom is allowed. Its tough love definitely but it works.
They are more into human and animal behavior, at that age than you realize, they soon find your weakness, and you lose control to them. At 10-11-12 months, they need a firm love, and direction. Her hour to bed should be way before midnight, comfort of food she likes, that brings sleepy eyes and a nap or naps. Try to eliminate the pacifier. Some will awake hungry, as every baby is developing a system Their favorite stuffed teddy in the crib, is a good idea, for sleeping buddy. Take control, as you would with behavior training a puppy.
i have managed to get my bub to fall asleep using 'controlled settling', it is kind of controlled crying. i put my baby in the cot, stay with her for a couple of minutes, usually lie her on her side and pat her,it lets her settle down and lie still. then i leave the room, if she cries i go back in after 1 minute. i just lie her back down and say ssshhh, give her her pacifier if she has spat it out then leave the room. if she cries again, i wait two minutes, go back in, then leave for 3 minutes etc. it has worked really well, especially as i always used to rock her to sleep and then put her in her cot. at first it would take a while, but now, she is usually asleep by the 2-3 minute mark. it is harder now they are older and more aware, but also being older means they know you will come back and that seems to reassure them. good luck!
