What do you think of Helen as a baby name? Is it too old-ish?

Helen is a perfectly fine name. Remember the story of Helen of Troy, the whole 'face that launched a thousand ships' deal?
That's my stepmother's name :) And your child will stand out from all the Reagans, Megans, Madisons and Tylers that will be in her class.
It's a wonderful name. My grandmother, mother and my daughter (25 years old) are all named Helen. My daughter has never once complained about her name and she is young. I say go for it!

Helena is also nice...you can always look up these names but in a different language like Greek or Persian...they have a different way of pronouncing it.

I've never been a big fan of the name Helen. Sounds like a 85 year old grandma's name. Or your great Aunt Helen.
You could add an "a" on the end to make it a little more modern as Helena.
