Anyone have an infant with low blood sugar?
Answer:
Hypoglycemic (another word for low blood sugar) infants usually are more lethargic and sleep more. So I think your child probably isn't actually hypoglycemic from what you described.
You need to take your baby to the pediatrician right away. This is not normal. There could be something seriously wrong with him.
My daughter was born with low blood sugar as I had gestational diabetes, and shes been fine ever since. If your concerned, talk to the doctor about it.
Lots of infants show low blood sugar immediately after birth...it's like any person who burns a lot of energy in a high caloric activity. it's hard work. With regular nursing, blood sugar resumes normal with no complications. It does not come back, and it not indicative of ongoing hypoglycemia.
Eating with every baby is individual, and your doctor will look at weight gain and number of wet diapers (six to eight a day). i forgot the rest of your post specifics, just description of newborn nursing that sounded normal to me.
