Weird sleeping patterns...?
Answer:
When I had this problem, I happened upon a book by Elizabeth Pantley called The No-Cry Sleep Solution. It really helped me look at everything going on and determine the best way to help my baby get back to sleep and get into a regular routine.
This is not to say that our routine doesn't occassionally get disrupted by teething and growth spurts or overactive days, but basically, she gives you a lot of really practical advice to address the specific needs of you and your baby. I highly recommend it to every new mom! You can get a cheap copy mailed right to your door on half.com!
She's in the middle of a growth spurt probably, however this could also just be normal newborn behaviour. These sleeping patterns for some parents can continue for the first 6 months or so. Just try & go with the flow as trying to change these habits is probably not worth the stress for you both. Relax as your baby will be a toddler before you know it. Just catch up on sleep yourself when you can. Hope it settles for you soon. My baby is 8mo & only just starting to sleep long periods during the night.
I don't know if my mom can help, but she is a rn that teaches second year nursing students and also is a family therapist with a local company called the family center. We live in Edmonton, Alberta. if you want to email her and ask her I will tell her that she should expect the email, even if you solve your problem if you have others you could email her ask for advice. Tell her that her son Mark read this on yahoo and thought she could help.
