My son is almost 2 months old. Recently he sleeps much longer than before.?

He used to wake up about every 3 hours to eat and now I have to wake him up to eat more often. Is this normal? Is he getting on a different schedule because he is getting older. When he does eat, he eats just fine there are no problems. Has anyone else experienced this with their child? Should I let him sleep and wake up when he does or should I wake him about every three hours so he can eat?

Answer:
I had this with my baby as well. Around six weeks she suddenly went from waking every 3-4 hours to sleeping 7-8 hours at a stretch. I was worried, so I talked to my pediatrician, who said that that's a problem ALL mothers would LOVE to have. She said as long as the baby continues to gain weight adequately, that there was nothing to worry about. Babies will let you know when they're hungry. My girl eats OFTEN during the day, but now sleeps twelve hours at night, with only one bottle about three hours before wake-up.
Unless there is a medical reason (and your pediatrician would have already told you), you don't need to wake your baby to feed him. I would, however, let him eat whenever he wants during the day.
thats good
its ok when my baby sleeps a lot i say he is growing
Let him sleep. It's normal. He is growing and developing and can go longer without food. He will eat more at a time and less often. He will sleep longer and less often. Don't wake him up. You should be shooting for an eventually normal sleep schedule of nighttime sleeping and daytime playing and 3 meals a day (with snacks). Let him sleep when he's tired and eat when he's hungry. Schedules are old fashioned and silly. They create problems.
thats good because the baby is growing and it needs its rest to get up earl and start making your day a wonderfull day
Congratulations! He's just growing up. You're right, he's growing up so his schedule is going to change a bit. You said he's eating fine when he does eat, so there's no problem. He'll let you know when he's hungry, trust me! Get some sleep yourself and enjoy!
It's normal. They hit growth spurts. Let him sleep and enjoy it. You enjoy the time too.
I would say your son is just in a growth spurt.
Doesn't it suck when your a worry wort of a mom don't worry I know all to well about it and when your a first time mom it makes matters wroth. Best advise I can give you is sit back and enjoy your extra quite time.
I would wake him up every 3 hours to eat *during the day time* but at night I would not wake him, unless maybe he went over 6 or 7 hours.
My daughter (2 1/2 mo old) just went through this. I asked a nurse and she said that its just them growing and developing. Its a good thing. I know your worried I was to, but it really is good for them and once you stop worrying it will be good for you to. You will finally be able to get some stuff done. The nurse said not to let my daughter go longer then 6 hours. Just let him sleep he will wake up when he is hungry. Babies know what they want and when they want it. You are not doing anything wrong. So don't worry.
