Heat in the house and what the temp is suppose to be with a newborn?

We are expecting our newborn baby girl in Feb. My fiance and I are complete opposites when it comes to what the heat and what the temp is suppose to be on. What is the temp usually suppose to be on in the house with a newborn?

Answer:
everything should be the same as you would do it! if you walk outside with a coat, the bundle the baby. If you think it is chilly in the house, then the baby thinks so too.
normal 70 temp do not make it too hot cause it has something to SIDS or too cold newborns require a stable temp
Just as you like it - babies don't need excessive heat or coldness.
The temp should be set between 68 and 72 with an infant.
Do what you normally do with the temperature of the house. Then dress baby appropriately. If you are warm, dress baby down. If you are cold, then bundle baby up. Don't worry about it - this will come naturally to you, and you will adjust with the seasons. A newborn in February will do well to have a hat on her head most of the time to help keep her heat in. If you throw a blanket over your legs, through a blanket on her. Just do for her, what you do for yourself, and you should be fine.

One mistake I made with my first baby was bundling her up in blankets at night, and a hat on, and then under the covers with us in bed, and she got too hot. I noticed this because she started to cry, and when I went to nurse her, her skin was too warm. So I just took her hat off, and undressed her, and she cooled right down. I never made that mistake again, with any of my other children - just learned to dress them as I dress myself.

Congratulations!
No higher than 75 but no lower than 70, anything in between there is perfect for your baby.
When I was in the hospital, my baby was in the room with me. When I asked the nurse to turn the heat down a couple of degrees, she told me absolutely not - the temperature could not go below 72 degrees. I don't know what the max is, but I know that babies can sweat for a couple of months, so it's best not to take them out in the heat. Another thing I read was in the summer months, dress the baby as comfortable as you are, but in the winter put one extra layer of clothing than you are comfortable at. Hope this helps.
