Is it ok to give a 4 mo. old infant apple juice to help with constpation?

Answer:
I used to give it to all 3 of my kids, even though it is "infant juice" you still need to dilute it. I would use 1 oz. of juice to 3 oz. of warm water. Good Luck. Also, as a last resort, you can try to take a rectal temp., sounds gross I know, but the stimulation often would do it to my kids even if I didn't want them to poop!
apple juice makes it worse.
it may really burn his stomach and then cause gas pains and cramps
We used prune juice, but we had some rather "explosive" results
baby apple juice, otherwise do half water/half juice
hope the baby feels better soon
the best answer would be to ask your doctor
Use grape juice.
gerber makes baby prune juice, still water it down though and just give like 2 oz... could also try baby drops for that...
Yes if it's diluted. Although it's orange juice diluted that works best for this. Be careful though as the acidity can often cause nappy rash. Diluted prune juice also works wonders I have to say..
Apple juice has a very high acid content so it may also just upset the belly. Try sugar water and if you are unsure of what else to do, contact your pediatrician.
Soymilk formula really helps with that. I would not give a 4 month old apple juice.
Yes I did with my daughter when she was that young i just used gerber baby juice and watered it down still a bit so that it didnt cause a big mess =)
I dont know ask a doctor. I think you shoud put it in his bottle.
I would not do apple juice..put some Karo Syrup in the babys formula.this works great...
I would try half and half apple juice. Half water half juice. Mylicon Drop are a life saver for babies gas. If that doesn't work you should ask your Dr. It maybe more serious than just constipation. I had to take my daughter in when she was 6mos. to the emergency room because she had not gone in a week, and they had to give her a suppository. Try the apple juice and Mylicon Drops first, you baby should get some relief from that. Good Luck.
I'm sure it would be fine to give your baby diluted juice...but when my lil one was only a few weeks old his doctor told me to give him Kayro Syrup for his constipation...it seemed to work wonders. all you do is put a few drops in the bottle...good luck and I hope everything comes out OK!
yes you can, but prune juice works better. We just got over a bout of constipation with our 4 month old son. mix 1 oz of prune or apple juice with 1 oz of water. Usually works by the following day. Also Gerber makes little 4 packs of Prune & Apple juice mixed together. HTH

I should also add, we tried the Karo syrup and it did nothing!
I did but your not suppose to.
has to be diluted, strait apple juice will burn the babies lil bottom like salsa would burn yours.
I think prune juice will work better maybe a little to good
I use dark karo syrup on my five month old
I don't think you're supposed to EVER give infants any kind of juice. Call your doctor and ask him...

Plain water in a bottle would be the only thing I would consider, but even that you have to be really careful with.

You have access to the internet...check webmd.com or baby.com
Apple juice can really hurt their tummies. Try watered down prune juice. This will help. My friend had to give it to her two month old baby recently, and it worked like a charm.
Yes but if you are not using baby apple juice then dilute it half and half with water.. mainly make sure the baby is getting enough fluid from formula or breast milk...a 4 mo. old should not have constipation since they are on a liquid diet...check with a doctor make sure nothing else is going on. I know the 'style' now days is to not give anything but milk to babies under a year but trust me it is mostly over hype... some dips*** mothers gave babies Coke and other inappropriate food so now the " Experts" go over board about restricting things that babies were fed for generations with no problems. Use your common sense and remember babies are not little adults so always dilute or reduce any ' grownup' foods you give your child.
prune juice ...also in some orangic grocery stores ..they have baby tea..its German made you can find it online at germandeli.com ...this tea i even had as a baby
Yes my son is 2 months and the dr. told me to give him apple, prune,or white grape baby juice so yes it is ok!
NO. Apple juice contains pectin, which makes constipation worse.
Use white grape or pear juice, or feed him/her stage 1 prunes. If the baby is not eating solid foods yet, mix stage 1 prunes with water to make prune juice.

When kids have diarrhea, they are put on what is called the BRAT diet. the letters stand for:
Bananas
Rice
Apple sauce
Toast

This diet is made to control diarrhea. anything from this diet will help with binding up your baby, but will make constipation wrose.
When my son was constipated the first person I talked to was my Dr. My Dr. told me to give my son one ounce of plain water...it worked and my son didn't seem in pain.
