My best friend is having her 1st baby...question's!!?
Something special!!
Answer:
Not sure where you live but go to a bookstore or amazon.com and by this baby book, its called "Baby Chronicles, My very own story, from pre-natal to pre-school" it would be very special and it is better than the typical baby book. Or maybe a really nice scrapbook (although I have not had the time to do that) If you don't want to get her that or if she already purchased one, get her a baby plate from lenox.com its really nice (noah's arch themed) and you can put his name, birth weight, and birthday on on the plate. Its about $45 after shipping, taxes, and personalization. These are just a few things I can think of that would be really special that she would appreicate. You can also go to Babies R Us or a specific Baby Store and I'm sure they can help you.
One of the coolest things I got was a HUGE basket from my husbands aunt filled with everything imaginable, diapers, wipes, blankets, baby q-tips, pjs with footies, mittens, socks, photo album, baby einstein dvds (great) cribs sheets. Just use your imagination and I'm sure anything you get her will be appreciated especially since you are there for her and I'm sure very excited for her. Congrats to the both of you :)
A nice baby set.
Get a soft baby blanket embroidered with his name
you should get the baby clothes or baby bath tube with shampoo and stuff
Get her a gift certificate for a spa or a massage because after labor and delivery she will need it. Offer to babysit while she goes and had her massage, pedicure, manicure, or whatever you decide. This would be great relaxation for her and it would give you time with the newborn.
Depending on how well of friends you are between twenty and fifty would be appropriate. If you are unseperable friends then spend as much as a hundred, don't kill yourself on the price it is the thought that will make her happy.
Something nice you could get her would be something like a nice picture frame for the babys first picture or a nive baby photo album for her to put pictures of the baby once he is born, so she has bragging rights. I have also seen some sets where the mother can inprint the infants hands and feet in clay and keep as a memorable item for years to come.
silver rattle from Tiffany's
first tooth holder
personalized Christmas ornament
spa gift certificate for mom
just some suggestions.
My mom usually gets clothes, or toys. But if you want it to be special, you could make something. Like, for my Mom's best friends baby shower for when she adopted, we got a bunch of One'Zs (you know, that they can were under thing) and we decorated them with permenant marker. You can write cute things on them, or draw pictures. It was really cute!
my best friend gave me a journal to write in (for my own thoughts and feelings) that i dedicated to my son and i write in it periodically in addition to his baby book so that one day he can look back at it and know what i was thinking and feeling. he also gave me a package to the local photo studio so that we could go and have our picture taken together within one year. my cousin gave me a video camera so that i could capture all of those moments and will be able to look back at them one day.
basically, anything that will help your friend cherish these moments and will help her remember how special you are in her life. good luck!!
A music machine is great for a gift, They can use it now until he gets a lot older to help put him to sleep. Maybe put together a gift basket full of little things for the baby examples- pacifiers, bibs, teething rings, etc) and then add a gift card for then to go out and you can volunteer to watch the little one when they do.
When i had my 2nd it was a boy he was named after our best firend who had died when i was 5 months pregnant. His wife was in the delivery room and as a present to the baby she ordered a foot print from the hospital it was this beautiful glass and when you did that they also added his footprint to a wall with his name and birthday. It was really beautiful and it will be there forever. It was a little pricey about $100 or so, but she memoralized my son in the place he was born in honor of her husband and our best friend. Very special.
You wanna get a gift for your friend or the baby?
You could get your friend some kind of ornament baby thing with an inscription on it...like little silver booties with the baby's name/date of birth etc...i'm not sure really, my sister had a baby and I got her a card and I got the baby cute clothes LOL.
diapers and wipes! you can never have too many. You could get a pretty baby blanket with his name embroidered on it.
Go with her when she is looking at baby things and pick out one of the things that she loves but doesn't buy. I don't think there is too much you can spend on a gift! With my best buds and my sisters I buy a stroller for each new baby. I like the idea of buying something that holds the baby safe and will last. Sometimes it gets pricey- usually 100 bucks or so, but the last time I shelled out for a double stroller that was close to 300. But everytime I see them use something I bought it warms my heart!
Spend what you want to spend :-)
Lots of diapers--@least just one- 2 pack(s) of newbies but get the next stage too because they grow out of them fast
lots of baby tees--some newbies and 0-3 and 3-6 mos----they grow fast
bassinette (ranges from 40 to 100 dollars)
clothes in general in the sizes mentioned above
blankets
baby wash cloths
make a huge gift basket of necessities----baby washes, Dr.Smiths's cream (good stuff for rash prevention), brush and comb set, little newbie shoes, and whatever else you see there in the baby needs section of your grocery store.
How about a really nice scrapbook and some supplies to decorate it?
Red Envelope, one of my favorite places for buying gifts, has a deluxe baby keepsake kit. This kit captures that first year with a 4" x 6" photo and handprints or footprints, something a new mother would treasure for ever!

Get him an outfit for 3-6 or 6-9 or 9-12. She'll probably get tons of 0-3 month size outfits. Usually about $20. Get a couple of outfits and spend more. It's up to you and your financial situation. Me and my best friend shop the clearance racks for next season clothes. For instance, you can spend the same amount for one summer outfit as you could on three or four winter outfits for next winter. We have an understanding, though. We both know they're off the clearance rack, but, we're giving/getting a lot more.
Try to wait until the baby is born. You never know how big or small the baby is.
Wow there is so much out there. I would suggest, if mom is a spa type of girl to get here a gift cert. and if you can get grandma or aunt to babysit, you go with her for a nice girls time, new mom's sure can miss that!! If she's not the spa type of girl how about Maids for a regular cleaning...can be so hard to get to mopping the floor and dusting, and she could maybe come over with the baby for some adult time.
For the baby I recommend an outfit or toy and a savings bond, or a piggy bank with a little money in it. Never to early to start saving for the future. Each year on his birthday and holidays you can get another savings bond or add to his savings acct. and still pick up a toy. My kids get so many toys and clothes, I love being able to add to there future by saving money. Also if you get the baby clothes please remember buying for a few omnths down the road is always good!
With my first baby shower my friend went all out she hooked me up with a playpen and the matching high chair, and to top it off she got me a huge bag full of stuff she picked out such as binkys, bottles, toys, teething rings and cloths in different sizes this was the perfect gift. you can never have to many cloths so I would suggest different sizes in clothing such as 0-3, 3-6,6-9 and of course 12 months she will greatly appreciate it
I don't think that money has anything to do with a gift. Yes it's nice to receive the big gifts like a stroller and highchair, etc., but the best gifts to me are the ones from the heart! You know your friend the best, what would really get her? One of the best gifts I ever received was a book called "I hope you dance" It's based on the song. I just love that song and it's perfect for what you wish for your child!
My best friend organized a beautiful shower which was a wonderful gift!
Anyway how about two: one practical and one not...
Buy a nice basket and fill it with baby stuff she will use: diapers, wipes, washcloths, towel, shampoo, a "medical" kit with thermometer, bulb syringe for boogies, medicine dropper, etc., a few cute sleepers or onsies, maybe a couple bibs.
As a second gift I'd get her a certificate to a spa or salon. She will need a break and time to herself. You could put it in the basket with a bow around it especially for her.
Of course all of this can add up so I say whatever you can afford. The spa/salon will be at least $50...you can offset that with baby stuff. Or whatever works for you. Hope this helps! Good luck and congrats to your best friend!
ummmm not so sure but if she is your best friend then you shouldnt worrie about getting her something to expensive. I know what ever you get her she will love it.
Get something unique to take to the hospital that day!! Get a Diaper Wreath..it can be hung on her hospital room door and it will be the talk of the maternity ward! Diapers would be usable after taken apart.it can be decroated wtih diaper-bag sized toiletries, pacifiers, onesies, socks, etc.!
I make these.diaper cakes, too!! Check out my site!! Order one in advance and have it ready to take to the hospital with you!! I'll even throw in the wreath hanger that allows it to be hung from the door!!
