If you feed your baby while she is napping and dont burp her till she wakes will this cause her to have gas?
Answer:
There are many, many reasons a newborn might have gas. It could be that she can't handle milk-based formulas, or it could be that she's inhaling more air than she should be during feeding.. which might happen if she's eating while napping. Work with your pediatrician to see what changes you might need to make to make her more comfortable.
Remember... colic shows up around 4-6 weeks... don't just assume any problems are your fault.. :)
Yes, baby will get gas and tummy pains... Should feed her when she is awake and then burp well. Part of bonding.
she could wake up in pain... i would burp her
It sounds like you're talking about a newborn. If she is napping, she is probably not going to be feeding effectively. Try keeping her awake for the feeding... tickle her feet, tickle her cheek. I recommend burping them everytime... it's worth risking waking them to get the gas out... the alternative is no fun!!
I don't think so. I burp my baby during her daytime feeding, but at night she falls asleep when feeding and I don't burp her and put her straight to bed - and she doesnt have gas at all.
Not only will this cause her gas but also, not burping a baby cuz they fell asleep can make her spit up in her sleep and choke..you really should make it your best effort to burp her even if it disturbs her sleep!
I did the same with my boys (because if I burped them they would wake up! ) But if its bothering her or you, go ahead & give her Baby Mylicon, Little Tummies, or the simethicone equivalant. This stuff works wonders!! :)
