How long can pumped breast milk be left out at room teperature?
Answer:
Freshly expressed breastmilk can be left out in a warm room (around 79°F) for 4-6 hours. It can be left at room temperature (66-72°F) for up to 10 hours. It can be stored in the fridge for approximately a week.
See the link below for more information on storage and handling of breastmilk. Print it and put it on your fridge!
Unlike formula, breastmilk that baby didn't finish CAN be offered again provided it is offered within about 6 hours. This is because breastmilk is DIFFERENT than formula and contains antibodies which would fight off any bacteria from baby's mouth.
No more than 2 hours. And once baby starts having it, you have to dump what they do not finish.
You would be better to put it in the fridge, where it can stay for 48 hours, or the freezer, where you can have it for 3 months.
Four to six hours.
Not long. Best not to feed baby non fresh milk. Bacteria can rapidly gown in it whin a few minute under optimal conditions. Heat sunlight excelerate this growth process. Bacteria can cause food poisoning plus other probs. Put away frsh supply in the fridge, put in the bin if not used up after every feed. Better safe than sorry. Cheers. 99
