My 5 month old sleeps in his swing all night long. It is the only way he will sleep through the night.?

Ours did the same thing. She grew out of it and completely lost interest at about 6 1/2 months. No obvious permanant damage! =o)
Could end up with a flat spot if always looks the same direction. Also we let ours do this for awhile, to wean him of it, basically had to hold him and sway and walk around and put him down asleep in the crib. Took some time, but eventually worth it. Also saved in batteries :)
no it wont. My son who is now 16 monthes old would only sleep in his bouncer till he was about 6 months old. He's happy and healthy. He'll out grow it. Try to slowly get him used to the crib even if its only to play, look at the mobil, etc..
It's not the best thing, it'll hurt his back in the long run. He needs to lay flat and to teach himself early sleep habits from the start. It'll be hard on you, and it'll take time but put him in his crib at night. If he cries, let him cry for a few minutes and then rub his belly to soothe him.
Well, he's not going to be able to sleep in a swing forever, is he? He has to learn how to go to sleep in a bed and, eventually, on his own. They grow so fast, that he'll be too big for the swing before you know it. By then, he might be so used to going to sleep that way that it could take a long time to "undo that training." I would strongly suggest not letting him sleep in the swing all night. It might be the easy fix right now, but easy is not always best.

My son slept in his swing a lot too when he was a baby. I dont think it will hurt him, I think you need to make sure that you get enough rest though, are you sleeping when he's sleeping? I would suggest trying to get him on a routine, but he's only 5 months old, I think he's fine in the swing. The motion is likely helping him fall asleep.
If his head is tilting forward during the night like it's resting on his chest, he could be getting insufficient oxygen which is really not cool and could be fatal. Some kids don't sleep all through the night until they are a couple of years old...just get up with him and enjoy every sleepy second of it ;)
It is fine. My son loved the swing and slept extremely well in it up until he was to big. Once he grew out of the swing, he pretty much figured out other ways to make himself comfortable to help him sleep.
HI, I THINK IT WELL BE OK. I NEVER HARD OF ANY ONE GETTING HURT FROM IT. IT IS SOME THING HE HAS TO GO THROUGH. AS LONG HE IS NOT COLD AT NIGHT.
When my son was 4 months old, I told the pediatrician that he was sleeping through the night, but only in his swing. He said it was not safe to leave a baby unattended in a swing, that he could cut off air supply if he fell forward. My son also started to develop a flat spot on one side of his head because he always favored sleeping on one side. We immediately stopped his sleeping in the swing. We had one sleepless night of rocking and then him awaking when we put him in his crib, but it quickly got better from there. At his 6 months check-up, his flat spot had disappeared and he was sleeping just fine in his crib. Though my son was fine in the swing for many months, I wouldn't do it again. I am just glad he was okay, as is your son, but I would start weaning him out off the swing immediately. Good luck!

Yes, it can hurt him. You cannot leave a baby in a swing to sleep at night. He obviously will be unattended (as you will be sleeping at some point also) and if he leans forward it can cause breathing problems. He can also fall forward and hit his face on the front tray. Him sleeping upright in a swing all night can also cause back problems. Put him in a crib where he can lie down flat to sleep. If he doesn't sleep through the night, TOUGH! Be a parent, and deal with him waking up in the night until he sleeps right through. Don't just take the easy route!
