How long is the new maternity leave in Ontario, I heard it is now 18 months?
Answer:
maternity leave is still 52 weeks(12months) but it is broken up into parts-the mother is intilted to 15-17 weeks(maternity leave) and then either biological or adoptive parents are tilted to 35 weeks(parental leave) unless you are pulled for work by your doctor(15 weeks-sick leave) then you can received up to a combined maximum of 71 weeks. here's the website for more information.
12 months
Its maternity leave and parental leave and its 12 months total. Go on the government of Canada website and you can read up on it...
I heard the same thing and actually called the government and was talking to someone in that department and they said it was still 12 months...maybe someone else has heard different though. I just called yesterday.
Here in the US women are lucky to get 12 weeks.
