This is my first child and i;m 40 weeks and he hasn;t dropped or dilated yet and my induction didn't work. why

Answer:
Dont worry,I was 12 days over due,I had not dropped, was not dilated and it took three days of inducing me to put me into labour!!the first 2 days they used the "t bag" mehod, that didnt even ripen my cervix!!The third day they used gel and in 20 minutes I was buckled over and in 5 hours I was 9 cm dilated!I was one of the unlucky ones that had to have an emergency c-cection because my son was coming out transverse. He was my first and only child who is now 5 months old.Good luck and do not worry not all of us take to the inductions.
Your baby's not ready. I had two babies who were 9 days overdue. Some just need to "cook" longer. It'll happen soon.
My wife's first pregnancy last year had the same issues. They tried to induce her twice. Eventually, we had a c-section 10 days after his due date. The problem in our case was that the baby has the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck several times. He wasn't going to come out on his own.

Best of luck,
~Kyle
Well an induction should work I don't know what exactly they told you but your body won't reject the drug they give you to induce. And if they induced you they would have broke your water and you can only go twenty four hours after that and they will do a c section. So i don't know what sort of induction they did. I was induced and it worked right away.

My baby didn't drop until i was at ten and rolled from my side to my back the baby just went down.
Thats awful, I'm so sorry. To be so ready and not make a go of it.

The membranes and cervix just werent ready yet. ?Due date miscalc, or just a longer than typical pregnancy.

Walk, take evening primrose oil to help soften mebranes, and drink rasberry tea to help your body get ready. - That's my best advice. Hopefully that little babe will get in position and get things started on his own.
God knows what he is doing! First babies are ususally a little late. Your baby will come when the time is right. Walking ususally helps speed things up, so go for a stroll. Good luck.
Your baby is just not ready yet. Be patient with him. I was born 2.5 weeks late.

Stay in contact with your OB. If there are any serious changes/concerns - they will proceed accordingly.

Be patient. you'll have 18+ years to enjoy your son. :-)
Induction fails when your baby isn't ready. If your baby hasn't dropped and you haven't dilated your baby isn't ready.

Check out your Bishop's Score which will tell you if an induction is likely to suceed (and quite frankly your doctor is a moron for even trying, as the risks are very high and the chances of success very low)

let him/her bake a lil longer the timer will go off when the bun is done. good luck!
Well, I was also born 9 days late. So there is still hope.

However, you might have the issue my Aunt had. She just doesn't go into labor. I don't know 100% of the details as to why. But she told me when she had my cousin Stacie they had to perform a C-section, because she wouldn't go into labor. Then when she had my cousin Scott, the same thing happened. I think it's a flaw in her physical makeup. Her uterus doesn't know how to contract or something like that. Like I said I don't know all of the details or how they discovered the problem.

And know my cousins weren't conceive with any sort of fertility treatment. My aunt doesn't have a problem getting pregnant. She just can't deliver naturally. I don't know what causes it either. But I had never heard of it before she told me, so I'm guessing it's rare.

Maybe you could inquire about something like that. However, I think it's more likely your little one just isn't ready yet. Many babies are born up to a couple of weeks late. 40 weeks is just an average gestation time after all.
OBGs normally wait till the 42nd week before they delare a case critical. i dont know what method was used for your induction but i know of three. the first is a tablet is inserted into you to ripen the cervix. the second type is certain drugs are put in a drip attached to you. the third is the OBG will do a sweep. sometimes with all this technology the date might be wrong especially if you are relying on the scan machine which determines birth dates by size. dont worry your body system will kick in soon thats how God made it ! When i was induced i had to have a second tablet inserted as the cervix did not ripen fully to open up for the baby to pass through.
It was the same with me. To add salt to the injury, I had gestational diabetes and my OB was scared that the baby may end up being too big. I was induced at 10:pm on a Wed night, by 4:00 pm the next day I had dilated only 4 cm and the baby had not dropped and I ended up having a C-Section with a 7.5 pound baby!

Check with your OB and decide what is best for you. If it wasn't because of the diabetes, I wouldn't accept being induced. If the baby is not ready to be there, she is just not ready to be there!
Are you talking about an home induction or at a hospital. If your doctor ordered your labor to be induced, you would stay there until you had your baby. It's normal for the first baby to not be dialated at all. Your calculations could've have been slightly off or your body just isn't ready yet. You should be able to go to the hospital and get petosin when your between a week or 2 overdue. Talk to your doctor about the options.
It's hard to be overdue, hang in there.
There are somthings you could do though in induce labor yourself, have sex, exercise and go for long walks.
Also, remember to relax! Once that baby comes, there will be no rest!
Nothig to worry about, i had a baby 1mth ago n was in d same situation. Was booked 4 induction but he came at 41 wks, several days before my booking. However I wonder what kid of induction they did on you? Dont worry ur head, the baby will come when he/she is ready. Just pray its soon cos i think mine grew a bit bigger in d one wk he was in there [smile].
