7 months and only 5oz of formula?
DON'T LEAVE ANY COMMENTS IF YOUR GOING TO BE RUDE.. PLEASE!!!
Answer:
First off I would see another doctor,in my opinion i would say acid reflux, ask your doc to let you try her on zantac and if does not work then you can rule that out.I may also suggest trying a dairy and soy free formula.Infamil Nutramagen or Similac Alimentum,I was using Nutramagen but just switched to Alimentum and my 5 month old son is also on Zantac and he has doubled what he normally eats in just a few days!!If your doctor will not help you out I would suggest getting a second opinion at least.Good luck.
my son only drinks six ounces at a sitting and has since he was 5 months old he is now 15 months...did u try soy milk she might be allergic to lactose or milk in general.also she is old enough to try baby food
Have you tried soy formula? The reason being she could have a sensitivity to milk and dairy products and cannot digest it. You also could try Lactaide Milk. This has an enzyme in it to help with the digestion of milk. Make her formula from it. It would be worth a try, since she is spitting up all the time. If she is allergic to the milk, she could develop asthma from it. She is old enough to be giving baby foods to now. Has the pedi not discussed with putting her on baby foods yet?
I had this problem with my daughter. She screamed I would feed her and she would spit it up. What I did, you might want to check with your doctor first. I change her from low iron to a high iron formula. Honest to god it was like a had a new baby. She spat up but no where near as much as she was before. But most of it was staying down.
Hope this helps.
Why is she spitting up? Formula-according to most doctors is the best at 7 months. Is she lactose intolerant? milk would be a bad idea if that is causing the problem with the formulas.
I would definitely not give her cows milk yet. If it were me, I would seek a 2nd opinion on the possibility of reflux. Have you tried soy formula? Maybe she has a milk allergy. Keep trying different formulas. The doctor should have samples he can give you to try.I agree that she should be drinking much more formula by now. She should also be able to tolerate baby food.
Is she ONLY getting formula with cereal? Is she eating cereal by itself? Juice? Foods?
At 7 months, if she has teeth, or even an interest in your food, you can give her Zwieback toast, etc. Maybe having solids in her system will help her keep the liquids down.
Good luck. And if you've changed her formula this many times, perhaps you should find a different doctor for your daughter. It doesn't sound as though this doctor is too concerned.
At this age, she should be eating several times a day - and definitely should be drinking 8 ounces at a time!
Maybe she is lactose intolerant and should try using Soy formula. That is what my daughter had to be on. She did the same thing that your daughter is doing.
try it.. it wont hurt the worst thing that will happen is a belly ache. i have 2 kids both were eating solids at 8 months drinking whole milk at 6.. dont be afraid to give your kids fruit juice to soften there stools either i had a local pediatrician tell me that that is OK but most doctors wont tell you that because they get paid for endorsing certain child products... its your kid you know better than anyone including that doctor when your kid is ready.
Don't try the 2%, that's a bad idea nutritionally, but she may have reflux even though the Dr. says no (some are very against diagnosing it). Try starting her on more solid foods, either baby food or even squished up table food. The weight will help it stay down a lot more easily than even the formula w/ cereal. Just remember to do table foods that aren't spicy, because if she does have reflux, it can hurt her stomach severely. Also make sure to keep giving her some formula, she needs it for nutriants and calories.
Doctors say alot of things, If she can keep it down, it's worth a shot. Also, by that time my daughter who ate alot, and spit up alot, was also eating some of the fruits and veggies(baby food) and I let her eat some of my softer stuff, like mashed potatoes. I don't know how good it is for the little one, but getting some nutrients must be better than none. My opion is that people were having babies along time befoe formula was invented, and that they used regular milk, and food for their kids(our grandparents) and they lived and turned out fine, as a matter of fact almost better than us. , maybe also you could try another doctor to make sure she isn't having acid reflex, get a second opion, or two or three, your her mom, and if you feel that she might see how many every doctors it takes to ease your mind. Just know doctors have missed things before. I hope she eats soon, and keeps it down. God Bless!
have u tried her on a soy based product, she might have an allergy...and dont worry if she only drinks 5 oz...mine is almost 7 mths and is breastfed, but when she does have a bottle it is only 4oz...have u tried her on solids...i know she is on cereal but what about actual food.and all babies grab at what u have regardless of being hungry or not, they are just curious and want what u have, sometimes the only way i can get my 2 year old to eat is off my plate...dont worry u r doing fine...hope this helps and good luck...
GOAT'S MILK is a healthier alternative than cow's milk. The nutrients in goat's milk are closer to what you would find in human milk, baby goats don't get as fat as baby cows, and many people who can not tolerate cow's milk can tolerate goat's milk.I would definitely not do cow's milk at this age because it can cause her to become overweight. When my daughter was 1 year, I babysat a cousin that was 7 months. They gave her 2% cow's milk and she weighed more than our daughter. She could not sit up on her own and her breathing sounded terrible. Please do not do this to your child. Our daughters are 3 yrs and 15 months and they drink cow's milk.
There are also some negative studies that have been done on SOY-esecially where soy formulas are concerned. Research has shown that it produces adult hormones which can cause young girls to begin menstrating at 8 years old. The longer those hormones are present in the body, the more likely that person is to develop certain types of cancer. Starting your period that young could cause you to get cervical cancer.

There are formulas that you can make yourself using goat's milk.
As far as solid foods go:
We started our girls out on solids at 6 months. We know one family who started all four of their children at 9 months. When you do start them out, it needs to be specific things that are easily digested: oatmeal and rice cereal, bananas, pureed apples, peas, sweet potatoes. And I made my own.
First I would cook the peas, sweet potatoes, apples, etc. Then I would put them in the food processor and process it until very creamy. Add water if necessary. Find out what consistency she needs. Then spoon it into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, put them in a zip-lock bag and label. These keep in the freezer and all you have to do every day is take out a cube or two (cubes are about 1 oz. each) and defrost. You can make a day of this work and then have a week's worth of meals. Mashed bananas are a great first food.
You should only give your child fresh fruits and vegetables. Store-bought foods that adults eat contain hydrogenated oil that begin to stop up your digestive and waste system. That's why we have so many problems with the colon and bowels these days. Those foods also have preservatives and additives that babies do not need. We did not let our daughters have chips or cookies and such until they were way on up there (At 2 years old for the first one. It is harder to not let the second one have those things because the first one is getting them.) They have been very healthy so far. PLUS-if they only taste fresh vegs and fruit, they will develop a desire for them and not WANT candy and junk food. Then they wouldn't be overweight and unhealthy like us adults.
Ruth Yaron has a book called Super Baby Food that tells you when to introduce your baby to certain foods. There are some examples on this website.

*** Do NOT give her peanut butter, chocolate, meat, peanuts, corn. These are very hard to digest and will cause more stomach upset.
I would be glad to help you if you are interested in doing things more naturally. Feel free to EMAIL ME.Or you could check out more of my ANSWERS.
P.S. Was she on breastmilk before the doctor put her on milk with cereal? Wasn't sure, but my daughter spit up and the midwife said it was my diet of Cow's Milk products that was upsetting her. Didn't know if this was the case with you. I cut out milk for about 3 months and she got better. I lost 20 pounds too!
I wouldnt give her #2 milk but vitamin D milk... try mixing it half and half with formula to start.. and give it to her warm not cold...
I gave my daughters milk at 6 months and they are okay..
And besure to try deluted juice and water at times too..
as long as she is keeping some of it down she should be okay..
however be carefull she could be lactose...elergic to milk watch for vomiting not just spit up trust me you will know..
anymore questions you can im me
DO NOT give her 2% milk. That is absolutely crazy.
If it makes you feel better, my daughter is 6 months old and only drinks 4oz at a sitting. She does not spit up though. We also give her baby food and a little cereal. We have been trying to give her more than 4oz each bottle, but she doesn't want to drink it. She does, however, drink about 6oz right before she goes to bed.
Keep trying th different formulas. There has to be one out there. Good luck and keep going to the doctor. Between the two of you, you'll figure it out.
Do not put her on 2% milk. Babies need the fat in whole milk and that is not recommended till 1 year. Acid Reflux is very common in babies because of the back to sleep rule. I would talk to your doctor and if they don't help switch to another. My grandson was on medicine for his first year because of reflux. He outgrew it after his first birthday. Try to relax. As long as the baby is growing and seems fine she probably is. Again explore the possibility of reflux. Good Luck
