He's learnt that he is moving those things that stick out from his body, he has control over them and that they're not just spare parts. As for the tongue, it's exactly the same. poke your tongue out at him and he will do it back! It's all part of learning about life for him, my son was exactly the same

Yep, Our baby did the same thing all the time. She would just sit there and laugh and scream ( NOT CRY ) all day long.
Because he's happy.
HE is entertaining you.

my son was exactly the same he is now 1 and is still laughing away your nephew has just found something new to do & laughing is just a new sound for him so he will keep doing it, the more people laugh at him while he is doing it the more he will do it as he will have worked out that it gets him attension . He is obviously a very happy & contented baby, as you say yourself at least he's not crying
our daughter is 16 months old and she is the funniest little girl, she does the funniest things my husband and I just sit back and laugh every afternoon, and she is soo smart she amazes me, they are great thats for sure.
I think most of the movement is involuntary at least i hope it is!! My son used to have one of those bouncy chair things and wore the material away rubbing his feet on it.He also used to open and close his mouth like a fish (sometimes we even got a bubble!!)the best for me was if he broke wind he would jump sometimes and look quite shocked lol enjoy it ,its over too quick.
He is a contended baby.
