I would advise you to plan a party around a water event or place so everyone can keep nice and cool. Bring lots of refreshments and sunscreen though. Try to remember to keep it simple and fun.
you know what 1st bday have like little people swimming pool in your back yard ,like sprinkler ,water slide ,theses kids will have fun believe me,keep them cool with Lot of cool lemonade.

Rent out a room or reception area of some sort. Maybe something big enough for a soft play?? Order pizza or something easy so the kids can eat and play. Good luck!! :)
Barbeque's are fun, I live in AZ and would do it towards the evening and try to find someone with a pool to host it. If that's not possible, I would have it indoors. If you have it outside with a baby pool just for the kids the adults will be miserable. Good luck!
