2 week old baby a little sick...?

with crazy weather and so many people touching baby, hes congested. Coughing and sneezing with yellowish green/ clear mucus, but breathes fine most of the time. He has an appt soon, but any suggestions on what i can do to help him feel better!

Answer:
when a baby that young gets sick, that really is not much you can do. some people use the vaporixers but some people say they are unsafe..the best thing you can do if he develps a fever bring him to you doctor right away fevers that young can be dangerous but your mother instinct should tell you if you feel like he/she needs to go to the doctor if you are worried the best thing to do is to bring the beby in
I dunno if it safe for babies so read the label but I would think that vicks would help the congestion...maybe a humidifier.
Keep his head propped up, and maybe use a vaporizer.if you have any questions just call the dr
You should get him in for a visit to a doctor first thing in the morning - just to play it safe. Otherwise use a humidifier in his room (clean humidifier, clean water) to help him. When feeding try to keep him upright as much as possible too. Take care!
You need to take him to a Doctor. Sure it may not seem like much but remember he is just a baby.He is still developing.
Babies get colds. They get about 6-12 of them their first year.

You can use a cool mist humidifier, and you can also suction out the mucus from his nose. That's about all you can do, though. Make sure that he has plenty of fluids, and it should clear up within a few days.
The one thing that you can do to help baby breathe better is a saline solution - they have spray's or gels...i thought the gel was great...all it is is aloe vera gel and saline...you can smear it under babies nose and nose will run and clear itself...other than that, maybe a vaporizer in baby's room or take baby into the shower with you so the steam can loosen the congestion.
Be aware, if this baby was born via c-section, this is really common...it isnt a cold, its congestion that didnt get 'squeezed' out of them as it normally does during trip through the birth canal. Yet, all the same remedies above would apply.either way, baby's got to breathe!
Make sure he gets lots of breastmilk or formula, like if he doesn't want to drink becaue he is congested deep trying to even give him little bits at a time, babies can get dehydrated in a short period of time. I would go to the doctor if he has it still in 2 or 3 days. And when my daughter was a newborn and even now(she is 2) i won't let any strangers touch her, itell themright up front to not touch her i don't care about a strangers feelings, and if they touch her without me being able to say something i carry antiseptic wipes in my purse and i clean her hands, til this day i still make my family wash their hands with soap before they touch her. And she has had one cold, in two years.
Don't know if this is any good but it helped my baby. Take him into the bathroom with you when you take a bath or show - make sure the door is closed as the steam will help loosen the mucus. A temporary measure but every little helps!
Stop letting people touch your child!
when a baby this young is sick get a vaporizor. i bought one three weeks ago when my 7 week old had the same illness. it is called the warm steam vaporizor. it is from cvs and is cvs brand and only cost 19.99and it has a medicine chamber for inhalents. it came with a vapor steam liquid medicine. you can purchase that at cvs also for4.99 when you run out. it shoots out the steam needed to help baby breath better and has a vix type smell in the air. it worked wonders for her congestion. I also used the blue bulb syring for her nose but usually after she sneezed because it was easier to get the loose boogies out then. also if he has a fever even just a small one infant tylenol drops work well to relieve any pain from the soar throat or anything. the label says consult a dr. so maybe you could talk to a nurse on the phone about your babies dosage without having to go to the office until your appointmen. my daughter was about 9lbs when she got sick and they had us give he0.4ml. when she just recently turned 12 lbs they told us to give her0.8ml when she got her shots. also they sell johnsom and johnsons vapor bath especially for babies under 3 months. it says so on the label. that made my little one feel so good. everyone likes a warm bath when they are sick. also pedialyt unflavored helped for the dryness of the sore throat. it helped to lubricate her throat and might have made her throat feel a little better as of course they cant tell us so.also a little fever is ok. make sure that he is urinating frequently and has nice wet diapers and is drinking enough formula, breastmilk and or pedialyt so as to prevent dehydration. I am sure he will be just fine and everything i told you is probably what the dr. will tell you. i hope he feels better
