Why do women breast-feed their babies, instead of using a breast pump and just bottle-feeding them?

I ask, because it seems weird to put your t**s in your baby's mouth. We are not animals, after all.

Answer:
Pumping is a huge pain and requires a LOT of dedication! Pumping takes time away from your baby. You have to sterilize the bottles and the pump and hold it to your chest instead of holding your baby as you were designed to do.

Humans are mammals, the type of animal that make milk specifically for its young. Teats are for a baby's mouth. Their use in holding out a shirt are secondary.

Rubber and plastic are not natural and have their own problems with chemical leaching and deterioration.

Also, the most important benefit of directly breastfeeding, is the immune response. The baby's saliva actually sends chemical messages that help alter the make-up of the breastmilk to suit the needs of the babies immune system and protects them from illness. This involves direct nipple contact. Which is WHAT THEY'RE FOR!
, Why bother pumping when you can just do the natural thing, The baby would rather have the intimacy with its mother than a peice of plastic. Better kids come from breast feeding, I believe.
We are animals. Grow up and get over everything being "sexual" breastfeeding is very natural... also it's impossible to "just pump" and give the baby a bottle.. you will lose your milk supply. pumping is not the same as breast feeding.
It is the natural method and is done for bonding between a mother and child. What do you imagine people do in prehistoric times without the feeding bottle? Technically, yes we do belong in the animal kingdom.
In a biological sense we are actually animals

The breasts primary purpose is to feed babies with. So it's not actually weird, just something you need to get over. Grow up a a lot first, then maybe it will make sense.

What did you think those things on you chest were actually for anyways? Making you look good to men? That's second on the list and that's way down there, a distant second.
breast feeding helps create a more intimate bond between mother and child, and deciding to only pump will diminish your milk supply from the lack of constant regular stimulation.

Breast Fed and Happy about it!
In every sense but intelligence, we are animals. We must eat similar foods, drink water, and breathe oxygen. There is nothing sexual about a mother instinctually breastfeeding their baby. A bond is created by the baby being closer to the mother. Besides, the baby won't ever remember it.
Using a breast pump requires that you refrigerate the milk, then you need to bring it with you in a cooler to keep it from going bad. Why mess with all that when your body produces fresh milk when your baby needs it? It is more efficient to breast feed than to pump the breast milk. But using a pump can enable you to let others feed the baby, so it has it's good points too. Breasts are made just for putting in the baby's mouth. It is not weird for most people.
Actually you couldn't be more wrong. We are nothing but animals. The only things that differentiates us from the rest of the animal kingdom is our ability to manipulate our environment.
Being a man, I can only relate what I have read and been told but it is an experience of closeness that cannot be matched by anything else.
yeah well what did you think your t**S were for? its not weird to feed and nurture the child you created and grew in your womb for 9 months, theres NOTHING weird about it. I feel sorry for your future children if you're weirded out by something like that. its the most natural thing in the world. The first thing a baby does is look for his mother's nipple, he can smell the milk, its a survival instinct. and just to humor you and answer the 1st question, b/c pumping its a pain in the *** and takes twice as long. so you spend a half hour feeding the baby, then you have to go pump, then clean the pump, then wash and sterilize bottles? thats all you would do all day, i know i've done that with my preemie.. plus a lot of the times breast pumps are no where near as effective as a baby. I could never produce much with a pump.
ITS THE NATURAL WAY EVERY and no animal could do that MAMMALS DUH
If we weren't meant to breastfeed our babies, then ours breasts would not produce milk for them. It sounds like you may have some guilt about the choices you've made in feeding your children as infants. It's people like you who make us breastfeeding women have trouble with your likes in society/public places while we are feeding our babes. Ignorance isn't always bliss - you may want to consider getting further educated on this topic.
A. We are animals. All animals ( including humans) Animals have hair and nurse their young.
B. It is not weird at all to nurse your child with your breast. It is a very loving bond when you do it. I am over 8 1/2 months pregnant with our 2nd son and one of the things I so look forward too is to breast feed our son. It was such an enjoyable bond between our first son and I.
B. Why do you think we have breast for? To nurse our children. Now, we are the only "animals" to have fully developed breasts all the time. All other animals get their "breasts" when they are pregnant.

C. As for my self I hated to pump. Tried it and it hurt. It was so much better to allow my son to nurse off me. I nursed my son until he was over 2 1/2 years old.
Its such a waste of time and effort to pump and bottle feed all the time. Its nice to do sometimes so partner can feed the baby. You have to steralize everything and if its not done correctly you risk making your baby sick.
Because **** were made to be put in babies' mouths, we ARE animals, after all. And if you're going to breastfeed, if you're home/around Baby to do it, why on earth go through time and hassle of pumping, storing and then feeding? Just feed and have it over with. Mothers are busy enough as it is with all the rest of baby's care.
Well I breast feed. I feel this way: My child is not a baby cow so why should he drink formula made from cows milk? There is nothing sexual about breast feeding! It not even the same kind of sensation!! I think you have some sexual issues if you think so. God gave women breast that are made for feeding an nuturing our children. There used to be a time where formula was not an option. Where would mankind be if our ancestors thought like you?!
silly question. Breast is beast. Do some research We are animals
I completely agree with everyone that there is nothing weird about breastfeeding (and I can't believe that there are people ignorant enough to suggest that there is). In defense of expressing, though, for some of us it is actually quicker and less hassle than feeding straight from the breast. I breastfed my first daughter for two years, and for the first year at least every day was one big feed that never ended (she was a snacker), and I barely left the house. It was hideous, and I don't feel like I bonded with her much because of it. With this one, I have been successfully expressing for four months, and I love it. It's so much quicker (in my case-I breastfed for hours at a time with the other, because she cat-napped on the breast so much), plus my other daughter can join in with the feeding and pumping. For me, it was definitely the right decision. I just thought it was worth mentioning because there have been several negative comments about pumping, and I wouldn't want anyone to be deterred from trying it if the felt they needed to.
You're right, it does seem odd... I wasn't sure about this until after I had my baby. When you have a baby, you will see that nursing isn't sexual at all, it is totally normal and natural.

Besides, pumping is a pain (literally and figuratively). Washing all of the bottles and pumping equipment, storing the milklj properly, heating it up while the baby is screaming with hunger - that is really not fun, it is much more convenient to nurse.

If you feed the baby breastmilk froma bottle, they do get physical benefits, but they miss out on important psychological benefits of nursing.
