Help! My 4 week baby is an angel during the day and sleeps well at night. from 8 until around 11 p.m. shes fussy. why? cound she have colic?

Answer:
Sounds like colic.

If a baby cries no matter what you do, especially always at the same part of a day, it is most likely colic.

She may be over-tired too. Have you tried putting her to bed when she first shows signs of tiredness (i.e. doesn't look you in the eye, yawns, etc.) as opposed to after she starts crying?

If it is colic, don't get too frustrated. Sometimes, there is nothing you can do, and if she knows you are "calm" about the situation, she will be less tense too.

My baby always had gas. To relieve gas, lay your baby down on her back and push her knees towards her chest.

Hang in there. Babies grow out of colic.
she's a good brat
Sounds like it. Or she could just be adjusting to the world. Hard to say. Talk to her doctor when you take her in again.
She could be hungry.
She could have gas. My daughter is 7 weeks and has had periods of fussyness. We us Milacon for gas, it is made especially for new babies and it really helps. Colic is just a name that doctors give when they don't know what to say (in my opinion). You really need to rule out the obvious, wet diaper, poo, pain, etc.) try laying her on her tummy on your lap, or walk with her stomach down across your arms..I know it can be tough, I have had those nights...good luck and be strong.
It's probally gas OR she just probally want to be held. Mention it to the next Dr's appointment and see if they can help. Good Luck
it definitely sounds like colic!
The best thing to do is take her to the doctor. Could she be hungry? I know that when my little girl had problems, that I would put some "Gerber Rice" in her bottle, the rice is very good for a baby's stomach. This was 10 years ago, she is still fine and healthy. She would sleep mostly through the night, and wouldn't fuss so much. When my step son and his girlfriend had a baby (a few months ago), her doctor told her (I mean when it was just a week old) to give her "Gerber Rice" in a bottle to help her, and she did, and the kid loved it. I was worried about her baby though, so on a visit to the hospital (she had asthma too ~ and I had to take her to the hospital) I asked two different doctors, and four nurses, and they all said the same thing "it's perfectly fine to give them rice it is really good for them!"... If you do decide to try this, you will have to split one nipple carefully (crisscrossing it), don't do it to big, so that it is not "too" much coming out at one time.
It kinda sounds like colic. if the crying is uncontrollable and unconsolable then it probaly is or gas. Try Mylicon for the gas and the ER doc told me to use gripe water for colic. I'm not sure where you buy it but you could call your doc and ask about it.
It does sound like colic. Our 3 month old son was exactly the same at 4 weeks, after his last night feed he would refuse to settle back down, crying and fussing until about 6 am.

We tried a few things but a small amount of gripe water after his feeds did the trick. Within a couple of days, he was settling down no problem at all and has been a star ever since. He's sleeping through til 7 am now.
this is normal, my baby's time was about 6-8 every night.how about saving her nice warm bath for that time? then a warm massage, w/ lotion. even if it's inconvinient for now, this won't last long. Babies go through many phases. Sometimes babies get all wound up from too much stimuli during the day and have a hard time winding down. I believe true colic is when she brings her knees up to her chest and screams, the milk in her stomach comes flying out with so much pressure from the gas, well this is what my friend's baby did.
There is no way that a four week old baby is just spoiled. Baby could have colic, or could just want to cry. Colic crying can happen any time but is worse in the late evening hours. Does your baby seem uncomfortable during the crying time? Like pulling up her legs, and passing gas? Those could be signs of colic. Because your baby is so young you may want to ask her doctor.
Take her to the doctor and see if she is allergic to her formula. My son did the same thing and it was awful. I had to put him on Lactos free formula, if your breastfeeding than stop eating dairy products. Also get the gas drops and the life saver is Dr.Brown bottles. They are expensive but well worth it. If the formula doesn't work than I would say she is colic.
It could be colic. I would mention it to your dr at the next visit. My son is fussy so my dr switched his fomula. You might want to suggest that.
