Genital Herpes + Pregnancy question?

I was told that since I have had HSV type 1 for 3 years, it is less likely that I will pass this to my child.

Is that true? Has anyone HSV+ given birth to a healthy baby?

Answer:
Generally if the mother is positive for herpes then the baby will be delivered via C section to avoid passing the virus to the baby. You should have no problem having a healthy baby.
My SIL has it as well and her daughter is 9 now. They did decide on a C-Section though. Just to make sure. Ask your doctor and see what he would recommend. Good Luck.. and try not to worry!!
Talk to your doctor. There are pills that eliminate the risk of passing it to your child. My mom had genital herpes when she had me and I dont now so,
I hope for the best.
Your doctor will monitor you closely as you get closer to giving birth, if you are having an outbreak when it is time to deliver, you will have a C-Section. If you're not, you can have a normal vaginal birth.

Some doctors might also put you on suppressive therapy, such as Valtrex daily to prevent you from having an outbreak when it is time to deliver.
