Help my husband does not believe me....?

we have a 4 month and a half month old son and my husband is always picking him up just by the arms i keep telling him that he is going to pull his arms out of the sockets but he just wont listen.. what do i do?

Answer:
Take him with you to his next doctors appointment and ask the doctor if there is a wrong way and a right way for picking up an infant. Then you will not be directing it at him in a negative way but a factual one.
well, I never has this problem, but I have seen many parents do this. But not to a four and a half month old. Without supporting his head at that age, is more like abuse. I would be sure that your kid is able to walk before you picked him up like that.
You have to protect that child at any cost. The choice about what you do is yours, but don't wait until it's too late and your baby gets hurt.
tell him when he "accidantly" breaks its arm,he will be listening to the cops in the pokey for child abuse instead of you, they would never believe a 4 month old feel and broke its arm, thats very dangerous.insist he stop..
Wow, I'd be talking to the public health nurse, pediatrician, researching and finding hard core evidence to back up what you are saying on that one! That must scare you half to death!
well 1st of all I would not let him alone with him.and I have seen it happen why is he picking him up that way? He is just a baby not like hes 2 or 3 which still would not be right but a bit better than 4 and half months old. Tell him to knock it off get on line and research and show him some articles where it has happened.Good Luck
Are you sure he is not doing this to make you upset?
There is so much on supporting the childs head that I bet he knows he is doing it wrong. Ask your mother in law to speak to him about it.
Where on the arms is he picking him up? If it's up on the upper arm, it won't harm the baby. If he is at the wrist area and pulling the child up with the arms of the baby over it's head, it COULD pull the shoulder out of joint. Stop nagging him and just say, if you pull the shoulder out of joint, you have to explain to the doctor why it happened and leave it at that. Your hubby may just be doing it to annoy you. Look away when he does it.
Tell HIS mother...or father...or SOMEone that he respects and talks to on a regular basis...obviously he wont listen to you as you scream "STOP!" - you can call CPS on him, but a less dramatic thing to do would be to get a friend of his to chastise him and tell him this can hurt the baby. It can dislocate his shoulders.
Get a book (with pictures because he doesn't sound too swift) describing proper and improper ways to pick up an infant.

Or ask your doctor to provide you with some material. Better yet, take him to the next doctors appointment so he can hear the answer directly.
Look up facts on the internet. I think that a child's arms are that delicate until they are 5 years old! Another option would be to call your pediatrician and have him tell your husband that it isn't good for your baby.
Don't let him hold the baby! No really, safety first! Take the baby away from him! You CAN pluck a baby's arms out! It happens all the time!
Take dad with you to baby's next Dr. appt. Have the doc tell him. Untiil then see if you can get friends and family to tell him.
tell your Doctor to tell him because you can pull his arms out of his sockets!
