How do I enlarge a bottle nipple?

My son has used a nipple on the bottle for so long, that it has become large, icky, and gross, however, he loves it. The problem is, the nipple recently became unusable when it tore from over use. Now he does not want a newer nipple, which is also smaller. I have been unable to locate larger nipples in the stores. It seems as if there is only one size. I've tried boiling the newer nipples to see if they would expand, but htis does not work. Any suggestions??

Answer:
If it's silicone, you're out of luck. If it's a rubber nipple, try running it through the dishwasher several times. You might even be able to stretch it out with your fingers.
try a different style nipple and bottle, or one designed for greater flow of liquid. That should take care of his problem. Generally you can distract a baby with a new bottle style if the flow it greater than what theyre used to. They like more food for less work.
There is no way to really enlarge one safely!! Your best bet is to check around and try to find the same nipple somewhere else!! Where did you originally purchase the old one?
Use a needle that has been heated in a flame, that will open up the hole, hold the hot needle in a pair of pliers so you don't burn your hand, and you don't need to get the needle terribly hot, just a few seconds should do it.
well first of all how old is your child? if he is old enough to have worn out a nipple like that then maybe he doesn't need bottle anymore at all. Give him a sippy cup and when he's thirsty he'll drink it. If he's under a year then you can enlarge the holes by sticking varying sizes of sewing needles through the hole till it flows freer. Also consider that the flow isn;'t the only thing to be aware of. The new nipple is probably much firmer than the old ones were. You can't do much about that. they wear in by use. Good luck!
I'm not sure what sort of bottle you are using but we used Avent bottles and there were 3 different sizes of holes in the nipples. We got them at babys r us, perhaps if that is not the bottle you are using they carry the brand you have?
If you know the brand, try eBay (you'd be surprised the obscure and foreign baby products you can get). As far as "big" nipples... maybe try the Avent, my kids didn't seem to like other brands because they were smaller. You also might want to call a medical supply store as special needs patients might use bigger bottle nipples. You also could try some of the odd shaped nipples (like orthodontic) as they might give the same feeling.
You don't say how old he is, but my personal opinion is he needs to get over it. He isn't going to be able to use one nipple his whole babyhood, and he should be starting to use a cup anyhow for at least one feeding a day if he's 6 months or more. My 9 month old is completely off the bottle and uses any kind of sippy I give him; he is NOT allowed to be picky about the type. That is just not practical. Just use the new nipples you bought, and when he's hungry enough he WILL eat.
