Reference needed for men cutting the cord at delivery?
Answer:
I think it's just a way for them to actually do something to contribute to the baby's birth. I mean, all they can do is stand there and hold their wife's hand as she gives birth... and so maybe just being able to cut the cord gives them a sense of "I helped too. This is my child too. We are *both* the parents and *both* of us are welcoming it into this world."
i'm not sure if i understand your question... but my husband cut the cord on my son's delivery and it didn't really make a difference to him, but all the difference to me... a year and a half later he has a very good and close bond to our son. It is really in the mind of the guy if it's going to have any effect on the father/baby bond.
my son's dad cut his cord... and cried... and i was wondering what he was crying about lol...
I cut the cords on all 3 of mine , it is not much on the bonding of dad ,and child ,but WOW..to participate ,and witness the miracle of child birth is AMAZING ..it will make the man cry , it will even help as far as the bonding of mom &dad ( thats why we had 3) it also allows the man too witness what the mother goes through in the birthing process..AND gives mom the open chance to express her self to her man ...mine called me names I have never heard anyone be called before...and she had a live audience who continued to give me strange looks during the delivery ..
