Does having your period affect your milk supply?
Answer:
well i don't think that menstration affects your milk. i menstrated as soon as i healed.trust me you can TELL the difference. and i nursed for almost a year with both of my daughters. you milk COULD be getting lower or your daughter could be having a "frequency period" when they want to nurse ALL the time but not eat much.that will actually change your milk supply and up it naturally. i think it actually changes the quality too.since babies need different things at different times. this is why formula makers cannot exactly replicate breast milk...because it changes! it;s a crazy wonderful thing. if your daughter is having the same amount of wet/dirty diapers you are fine! don't worry!
It may taste different try to drink plenty of fluids. I'm also a nursing mother of a soon to be 6 month old and my period started 5 weeks after delivery. She also might be going through a growth spurt but dont get discouraged keep up the good work:)
Getting your period doesn't effect your milk...but what you eat and drink will. Are you drinking water or milk or juice when you are breast feeding? As my midwife told me...liquids out.liquids in. And you should drink more if you are having a period.
It sounds like she isn't latching on well...does she do the same thing when you give her a pumped bottle of milk? Talk to your doctor or your pediatrician.
No it will not affect your supply. It sounds like your baby is going through one of her many growth spurts. You should take a look at your diet too. That may be what is bothering her too. Too much caffinee, veggies and chocolate might be too much on her little stomach. Good luck
