Do you like the name Jancyn?

Answer:
It is one of the cute-se-poo impossible to spell and impossible to pronounce trendoid names.

So how would a stranger, upon reading the name pronounce it?

Jan-sin?

Why not a good, solid classic name like Katherine, Elizabeth, Anne, Louisa, Lydia, etc.

I'm not suggesting an "epidemic" name either. In the mid eighties I taught English at a Catholic school. In my seventh grade English class there were FIVE girls named Jennifer. Jennifer O'Neil was a popular actress around the time all my students were born!

Classic names often have a dignity that cutsie-poo names do not have, and a classic name is not one your daughter will have to share with countless girls as she grows up.

:Look at your family tree. A great-grandmother may have a classic name that has stood the test of time. And your daughter would have a bit of her heritage in her own name!
no, i don't.
No it's stupid and ugly
how is pronounced

is it like jan sin
no not really
Jancine maybe
not really
Yes.

It's a fresh and down to earthy name...
Not personally, no.

But...it's unique!

o_O
yeah i'm totally smitten with it
Sounds too harsh.
No
For a boy or a girl? It's unique, that's for sure :)
no, dont do that to your child.
Depends is the baby a boy or a girl? Is it pronounced jan sin? I would say yes for a girl but a little feminine for a boy. But most importantly do you like the name. The other thing is what nicknames can be made from this name, kids in school are awfully creative with nicknames is the name something they are going to be tortured with like Richard to Dick, Elizabeth to Lizard or Lizzy Borden (who was a psycho) make it a name your child can hold its head up to or at least not be ashamed of or embarassed by
not so much
It's OK. But really, it sounds so much like all those other popular names right now. Braden, Jaden, Aiden, Logan, etc...
I do because it's unique and not like any other and you don't have to worry about 3 other kids in the class having the same name as yours
Are you for real? Aren't you supposed to love your child? Then why give it a bloody silly name like that you fool !
boy or girl?

I've seen it spelled Jansen, and I like that better.
NOT AT ALL. Sorry, but you asked.
not really.
I don't care for it too much. I've never heard of it so it may be one of those names that I just have to used to.

If you like it, go for it:)
It's your baby; therefore, it's your decision:)

There's nothing wrong w/ unique names.
no
No.
No. A cardinal rule when naming a child is to consider if it can be easily spelt by someone hearing it, and easily pronounced by someone seeing it in print.
Jancyn fails on both counts.
It also fails aesthetically, IMO.
The previous suggestion to check your family tree for a name you like was a good one.

Good luck.
