Babys blocked tear duct?!?!?
Answer:
My son had the same problem. Just wait until tomorrow. I'm sure they'll be able to get you some help. My doctor actually recommended that I start rubbing around his nose--the part next to his eye. He also said there is nothing other than that he could really do for him. Normally, if this continues they will have to do surgery (so my doctor said) at about a year or two old. Luckily, after massaging his nose he no longer has a blocked tear duct and everything is back to normal.
If going to the ER will make you feel better though, go right ahead. It's better to go to sleep with no worries!
ive had it before, you can buy some eyelid cleaning pads at walmart, they look like thoes facial pads, but with saline solution in them, lift the babies eyelid opne and softly rub the cloth type patch beneath the eyelid, (its hard to do actually, buy 2 packs just incase) and rub it 2 times a day to open it, also, applying heat is good, as hot as you can get without hurting it, the heat opens the ducts up.
It sounds like it could also be pink-eye. She will need to have eye drops prescribed to get rid of it. Make sure to wash your hands well after cleaning her eye.
But keep doing as you are doing until you see her doctor.
i would NOT go to a ER for a closed tear duct!. It's a very common issue you need to call the child's doctor. They can give you drops for the eye. If the eye duct dose not open by age 1 a very simple surgical probe can be used OUTPATIENT to open the duct "takes a few seconds". If the eye is not infected it's a waste of time and money to go to the ER first word in ER emergency this is not a emergency. You can clean the eye with a wet cloth call the doctor. if it's pink eye the eye would be painful swollen and pink usually in one cornor that can also be treated with a drop from the doc .
if she is in daycare it could be pink eye, wash your hands and baby's hands very well with warm water.just keep using the warm washcloth until and can get her to the doctor office tomorrow,i think you should wait on the er,for now,hay try to call the advice nurse and see if they have any suggestions for you.
My mom told me that a few months after my little brother was born that he had a blocked tear duct. She said it was very sad and that he had to have an operation to fix it. I would take your daughter to be checked out.
my son had that and i took him to the DR.and tell showed me how to get all that out i puch under the eye and puch to the tee duct and after that i would put warm milk in it and do it all over again.and he has been fine. But the eye needs to cry sometimes.good luck
My daughter had the same thing for about 4 or 5 months. She's 9 1/2 months now and doesn't have that anymore. My husband and I just used some camomile tea on her eye and that seems to help out some. Just make some camomile tea and wait for it to cool and then use a cotton ball. Also, using a humidifer helped out. When you go to your Pediatrician they can also prescribe something for your daughter. It will eventually clear up on it's own by the time the child is 1 year old.
