Hi I've nursed 2 children. The milk keeps for a week in the fridge and 6 nonths plus in the freezer. Human milk does not spoil as quickly as cow's milk. I pump at work, keep the milk in the cooler until I return home, and put the bottles in the fridge. Someties the milk is not used for a week. It smells fine. Use the smell test - just like with cow's milk, you will know if it has begun to spoil. Good luck!

My local health dept uses the following guidelines:
6 months in a deep freeze freezer.
3 months in a regular freezer.
72 hours in the back of the fridge where it's coldest.
6-10 hours at room temperature.
If you will be pumping your breasts, practice for 1 or 2 weeks before you go back to work. You can try pumping just after your baby eats, or you can pump your breasts between feedings.
