Breastfeeding whilst taking Femulen?

I've only been taking this for 2 months. my son is nearly 8 months, and im still breastfeeding about 5-7 times a day.

will it cause problems for my son(hes consipated and has been for 3 months now) or affect the amount of milk i produce and the quality of it?
I know i only have a 3 hour time gap to take it, but i usually forget and take it 2 hours after im suppose to, and i keep missing them! Will there be enough of the pill in my body to stop me getting pregnant anyway?
thanks in advance

Answer:
Femulin can as with any pill reduce the amount of breast milk and could be the cause of his constipation. I say this because breast fed don't usually get constipated. Good luck, go see a doctor and make sure. Perhaps a barrier contraception will be better if you are breast feeding. Good luck, do try everything to carry on breast feeding it is a fantastic experience. I have three children and have breast fed all of them.
Ask your pharmacist or doctor.
The best answer you can get for this especially the baby being constipated is ask his Dr and your Dr..Constipation is not good in a baby. It can be backed up in is intestines..Go get that checked asap

Progesterone only pills, such as Femulen are very unlikely to effect your supply, or quality of milk. It should cause absolutely no problems for your son particularly as he is over 6 months of age.

If you do not take them at very close to the same time of day however you may as well not take them at all. They will be very ineffective.

Your son's constipation needs to be treated, constipation causes pain, pain causes babies to hold it in, holding it in causes constipation. Do you see where this is going?

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Stool softeners (oral) and glycerin suppositories are generally considered safe for use. Use these to relieve the constipation and to keep it away while he learns it doesn't hurt to poop. (I recommend the oral one as glycerin suppositories can cause uncomfortable cramping. I used them after I gave birth and I only took the child's dose and it was very powerful). This should be combined with dietary changes.

Try to get your son to drink 1/2 to 1 oz of water whenever he eats solid food. You could mix is with juice but I think juice is a bad habit to get into, your call though. Also try to make sure your son eats more fiber from fruit and veggies (NOT STRAINED BABY FOOD).

My cousin had constipation caused by the iron in formula, her doctor didn't treat it properly. Now she is 2 and has tears that bleed and she is soo afraid to poop that that is causing her to become constipated. She is on constant doses of stool softeners, high enough to cause diarrhea to FORCE her to go. This is not a good place to be. Diarrhea will prevent the tears from healing and can cause discomfort as well. It's insane, and could have been prevented with more proactive treatment in the beginning.

Please do not take constipation lightly. It is a big problem. Clear it up and keep it away, hopefully just with dietary changes, but use medication if you must until your son it clears up as your son gets older. Constipation is a serious problem.
