Wat r the effects of smoking while breastfeeding?

Answer:
As long as you smoke AFTER you breast feed, your baby will be fine.

Obviously don't smoke in your house or car.
Your Child Could Be Burn Deformed.
the baby enjoys the nicotine. nothing like a good smoke at age 1 month
When I was pregnant there was a woman trying to get all mothers to breast feed -she said it would still be best even if I smoked but I'd have to wait awhile for the last cig to get out of my system-about an hour I think
I'm quite likely the wrong person to ask as I smoked throughout both of my pregnancies, I just couldn't quit! Both of my kids are wonderously heatlhy and happy little people so I guess I was one of the lucky ones.
Take care
well smokingt isn't good for anyone especially a baby it may even cause breathing problems such as sleep apnea or sids i would research it before i would light a cig up
personally, i dont know the specific harms that can come about from doing that, but if you're planning on breast feeding, it probably wouldnt be a good idea to smoke. granted, it probably wouldnt have a good idea to smoke during pregnancy, but its never too late to do something right. i have nothing against people smoking, but its important to realize that when mothers smoke, a lot of those chemicals get transferred to the baby, either during pregnancy, or the more current matter, breastfeeding.
I'm sorry to say I smoked with 1rst child. My son spit up all the time until he was exclusively on formula.( 2 mnths.) Was also cranky alot. He also turned out to be a small child. Don't smoke with preganancy or breast feeding.
Nicotine is a drug that gets into your lungs and eventually into your blood stream. Anything in your body has the potential to get into your babies body. The most common effect of this is addiction, loss of apetite, and reduced growth.

Smoking in the house around the baby will greatly increase the babies chance of getting ear infections and could give them lung cancer from second hand smoke.
Second hand smoke will increase the risk of cancer to anyone in your home whether or not you are breast feeding. Smoking is bad for you and everyone around you. Get the patch or the gum or hypnosis or SOMETHING. You need to quit for your health and the baby's.
Don't do it! Anything you have passed to your baby!
None, really. Just don't smoke WHILE your baby is at your breast. If you must smoke, do it outside, and with a 'smoking' shirt on that you can remove before you come back inside. Wash your hands before you pick up your baby again.

Millions of women smoke during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Years ago, most all women smoked and there are millions of healthy adults out here today. When my mom had me, almost 30 years ago, she was smoking in the hospital room while giving birth, and the doctor was smoking while delivering me. It's all a matter of PERSONAL choice and decisions. You and your baby will be fine.
Well, your baby will get nicotine with the milk. If you are breastfeeding while smoking - obviously the baby will second hand smoke.
Whatever you put into your body, the baby gets. Make sure not to smoke right before breastfeeding. Definately do not smoke in your home around the baby. You should put your baby first, and I know it is very hard to quit smoking. You also need to do it for yourself. I have a sister that is 7 years younger than me and not only does she look older because of the wrinkles caused from smoking for many years, she also has osteoporosis very bad. The doctor has told her she needs to quit smoking because of her brittle bones. This habit will effect your health one way or another down the road. Quit smoking and have a long, healthier life to be there for your children. You can do it! Good Luck!
Just make sure to rest an ashtray on your baby's head...the cherry could fall of and burn the little bugger's noggin.
