At what age will your baby start to crawl?

My son is 8 months and has not started to crawl yet? Is that normal? My first son was walking with funiture already at this age.

Answer:
Most kids crawl around 9-11 months. But every kid is different and they have their own plan.

Crawling is not an essential step. Kids do not need to crawl before walking - the more important step is sitting up on his own. Many kids go from sitting up to straight walking.
6-7 months they will do this little army crawl until they learn how to move their legs and arms simultaneously.
5-6 months are the initial months for crawling. tho not all babies
are same in motor development
Well... I dont know for sure because to me it depends. My little cousin started crawling like, 3 weeks ago and he is 1. My friends little sister Lexi started to crawl at 11 months. Now she is walking. And she is 1. So i dont know.
My son only started to crawl at 12 months and walked at 14 months, I thought this was terrible, but then I met another mom whose son crawled at 13 months and only walked at 15 months.

My daughter crawled at 6 months and walked at 9 months, they say girls are usually faster than boys.

But I also think weight plays a big part, my son was exclusively breastfed till 10 months and still he was a hefty baby.

Now he is skinny as a rake, super active and athletic, which goes to show getting mobile so late hasn't affected his physical performance at all.
Every child develops differently. I have an 8 1/2 month old little guy who doesn't sit up, crawl or pull himself up. Lazy? No hes not. Healthy? Yes he is for the most part. Developmentally behind? Yes due to 5 surgeries before he was 8 months. Your child is normal. He will do things his own way. If you are really worried see your dr. and have him do some testing. There are several resources out there to help you help your little man. Good luck!
My daughter was 8 months when she started crawling, it's fine.

Remember that this new baby is NOT a smaller version of your older child, he is a unique individual and will do things when HE is ready, not at the same time that your first son did...please don't go through life comparing the two children!

Crawling is different with every baby. There is no normal when it comes to children and babies, please remember that!
My son was six months when he crawled, my daugter is now 7 months and still shows no sign of crawling. My son was pulling himself up at 7 months and cruising by 8, so it just goes to show every kid is different.
'One of my daughters crawled at four months and another at six months while a friends baby crawled at nine months. If you're worried you can take him to an orthopedic doctor to check how strong his leg/arm muscles are or ask advice about what exercises to do with him but really it's early to worry.
I wouldn't worry about it. Every child does things at his own pace. He will crawl when he's ready. Just because he may be a late crawler doesn't mean that there is anything wrong or that he will be behind in any other development such as walking, etc.
My son didn't walk until he was 20 months old. He sure took his time with it...I was so concerned, that I took him to our family doctor, who refered me to a spcialist. A lot of unnessesary test results later, I knew that my son was perfectly healthy.
He now runs around just like every other 2 1/2 year old.

Seriously...don't worry about it.
In my opinion, there should be no suggested age at which to expect your child to crawl, walk or eat his dinner unassisted. Children learn at their own pace.
yes its normal, my youngest is 13 months & not yet crawling but hes small. they all do diff things at diff times. no child is like another so relax. my son is small, only 18 pounds & i think that has alot to do with it as well. i feel the same way im worried about my 1 year old but in time & when hes ready he will do it
my daughter is 9 months and is not crawling she is walking with my help don't worry there all different
