Is more common in Europe, male children use tights under shorts for sports in winter or as sleepwear?

Have heard that is more common for male euro children to use tights than in the U.S., maybe because is colder there.
We discussed it and want to settle the question.

Answer:
I'm from Europe myself and can say that our boys really wear tights till they're 5 or 6 years old - I know a 9 year old who still wears them. It's really colder here.
But we don't use tights as sleepwear - there are pajamas or just underwear.
When little guys get older they stop wearing then saying tights are for girls.

I have quite a few russian <guy> friends and asked them this myself !
in europ u can get away with pretty much anything , depending on where u live in the US u might be able to get away with it but i dont think ur son will thank u for it
