When should a child strt potty training?
Answer:
My daughter was potty trained before she turned 2. I think she was 20 months. What I did was started her out in pull ups which of course didn't work. Then I went and bought some real underwear. I put them on her and told her if she pee in those that I wasn't going to change her right away. She of course peed in them and I didn't change her too soon. She complained of them being too wet and itchy. After about 25 minutes I changed her and as soon as she had to go she took off running to the potty and said she didn't want to itch anymore. That's how she was trained.
girls: by 2 1/2 years old
boys: by 3 years old
Whenever they start showing interest. Anytime after two anything before is too soon.
When they are ready. Usually you will notice some indication or another. We put ages and deadlines on everythgin to "normalize" our children adn all we end up doing is putting unnecessary pressure on them :(
i think when they start showing signs of readiness..
a friend of mine's daughter is trained at 19 months (wow-i know)
I just started training my son who is 21 months. he started showing signs by taking off his wet diaper and saying 'wet'.i'm not pushing it, but hes doind well so far. hopefully we'll be done by he's 2.
When your child starts waking up with a dry diaper they are ready to start potty training.
around two or three... have fun and good luck!
when ever they start getting uncomfortable with having waste in thier diapers, and when they have the slightest realization that they have genetalia
every baby should start at the age of 2, but depending on their disadvantages they might take long. (I have brother that is 2yr old).
Saw a doctor talking about this the other day. When they show interest, do not force them, it does cause psychological damage, but if not before age 4, seek help.
Not before the age of 2 and only when they are ready.
My son was fully potty trained at 2, didnt even have to sleep in a pull up. I didnt pressure hiim either. My daugher was the tough one, she went to age 3 before she became fully trained.
I have three girls and none of them potty trained until they were around three. We had no accidents in bed or in clothes either! Once they decided to wear big girl panties it was a no brainer..honestly. My doctor told me not to stress about it until they were 4 or so. So I didn't and it went smoothly. And I never did use a potty chair. We bought the little padded toilet seats you just put on top of regular toilet seat for about $8.00 at Wal~Mart or Target no muss no fuss no MESS! I don't understand these people that insist that the children be trained by the age 2 or earlier...I think they are just stressing out themselves and the kids and that they are really too competitive!! Relax and enjoy your kids with common sense as your guide!!
