has a lot to do with what kind of person they are now. We've all done things that we regret later. Especially in our youth. If the person has given up that type of behavior I see no problem . Someone like that can be a real good example of " you can make a mistake and then get yourself together". How many teachers are there that used drugs heavily while in college, but don't do it now. Forgiveness and understanding are are important qualities.
Good question.but hard to answer. I think I would possibly give him or her a chance. The past is just that...the past. I would just keep my eye on them.
NO >ppl grow up and should not be represented by there past ..in most situations...if it was child abuse or something violent i would be conserned but this seems like a bad choice they made and who better to be a role modle and learn from than someone who has seen bad times and made something of themselves!

I saw that on Dr Phil too. And I think she was getting a raw deal. Since when are we a country where we don't get second chances? She did what many don't do and got her life in order. She is not molesting students, did a good job and seem to have gotten herself straight. And I do think she can relate to many of the deeper more sinister areas of society if ever faced with it from a child. And I would let her teach my son.
i beleive that it doesn't matter what they have done in there past as long as she is giving the shildren good learning essentials than her past shouldn't matter i mean alot of us have done stupid things in our past but if the past efected all of our futures we would all be sh*t out of luck.
good question.. but really if they changed and forgot about what theyve done in the past and started off on a new clean slate then i mean give them a chance.. theres nothing wrong with that.. as long as you know your chid is being well educated by this person then theres no reason to get them fired...
don't take any chances, you need to complain about that. your child's well being is at stake here.
I guess it would depend on what age children we are talking about. In young children who wouldn't run across anything this teacher has done in the past, and if they are a good teacher, probably no harm.
BUT..let's say you're talking about making adult movies or maybe posing in porn..and you're talking about, oh, say high schoolers...maybe even jr high..what happens IF a student discovers one of those movies or pictures..they lose any respect for that teacher..not a good situation
I beleive a person's past is just that. I wasn't a perfect angel in my younger years and I don't know many who were. As long as their former careers are in the past they have nothing to do with the current career choices. Sometimes a person has to lick the curb in order to get themselves back up. Funny but the American voters have, in the not so distant past voted a man who was a noted womanizer and partier not just once but TWICE as president (Clinton) and a noted alcoholic (Bush) twice as well. A former stripper/porn star would have had to have gone to school to get a teaching degree and majored in the particular subject they teach in order to become a teacher...who knows, maybe their stripping/porn shoots went to pay for that education, not everyone is born with a "Silver spoon" in their mouths and not everyone can afford a college education, both of these "professions" pay quite well and considering the cost of a college education it beats the hell out of working for McPuke's.
Of all people, a teacher should be a role model with good character for their students. Can a teacher's past diminish their standing in the classroom? It can work either way, they can see that a person with a shady past has reformed and is now a person of good character and has turned their life around, or on the other hand they will see the teacher as a person who should not tell them how to behave or act.
No but I would watch what she teaches my children. Ask them what happened in class etc...
There is a reason why the school hired her.
Hello! If someone has a shady past, or more directly, in to stripping, making adult movies, or allegations of history of child sexual abuse---you might want to consider why they are conveniently working around kids. People with good and clean pasts do molest kids.
If you KNOW this to be true PANIC and get your kid out of there. Start early and tell your kids that no one can touch your private places and they can tell anybody NO and then they must tell a big person. If you tell them to tell an adult they might get caught up in trying to figure out who an adult is. Also tell your child that the only person who might need to check their private places would be a Doctor but Mommy or Daddy will be there too. Don't scare them, just give them a tool to protect themselves.
what people do outside the classroom should not effect what they do in the classroom. i mean, if they are breaking laws, yes, but being a stripper or making porn movies is not a crime. i know plenty of people that have no business being teachers, but they are. half the teacher i work with only survive the day only because of coffee and anti-depressants.
I don,t think I would worry about it too much.There has been a lot of people made mistakes when they were young and ended up getting their life straight and becoming good people.the teacher has to have the right education or she could not have qualified for the job...Now if she were a child molester then I would say yes,but you never know whats was in her past to cause her to do that...It must have not been in her heart to do it or she would still be a stripper..Give her a break and don,t bring up her past,she might be ashamed of it...I think she will be able to educate your child without a problem...

I have a shady past. I never stripped or made adult films but I find that when my report is run they are always denying me a job for something that happened 14 years ago. People grow and change. The things they did as a young adult should not change their future. I would see that if they were still doing it then that would be a different story.

I would talk to the school and get my son or daughter moved to another classroom. I wouldn't want the person to lose his or her job though. They did a lot to become a teacher and let one person throw it away is wrong. I was molested growing up and the person said he would never do it again to my mother, but continued for 5 yrs more after that. So I don't know, I don't trust many people, but if my child was out of the classroom, it's not my problem anymore.

So, she's now an example of How to Turn Your Life Around... good for her. But, she is better held out as an example of what NOT to do, and not as an example of how to do damage control.
