if it is the JUNK that cartoon network or nick puts on every day the those should NEVER be wached, you are to old for those at 1 minute.
if it is clalsics like bugs bunny or daffy duck, you should never out grow those. my dad still likes to wach those. Simpsons and Family Guy are nothing but JUNK too. ALL THOSE "cartoons" belong IN THE TRASH CAN.

You are never too old for cartoons as long as you know that's what they are. I wouldn't worry about it. They will either love cartoons their entire lives or they will outgrow them. Either way, this is how God intended for them to be.

I'm 24 and I watch them all the time. I watch adult swim Monday -Thursday. And I know all the songs to Dora and Diego. I love just about all of them.

Cartoons are great no matter what age you are.Personally i do not think that the simpsons,family guy are appropriate for youngsters anyway. Use the classics , Ie Micky mouse ,bugs bunny.The newer "hero" ones also appeal to young boys,it engages them in fantasy. Dont deny them their childhood.

If their mother talks to them like they're 4 years old, that's rather her problem honestly. How does their father feel about it? and have you talked about it? Not sure if your over reacting, but cartoons are fun to watch, entertaining in silly ways. You don't have to talk to them like their 4, you can talk to them and treat them like their soon to be grown ups... more respect and they'd see that as somethign special actaully I'd think..

Your never to old for cartoons. The best ones are the old school Tom and Jerry cartoons or Scooby Doo! Would you rather them watch cartoons or slasher movies or even porns.

LOL. i'[m 14 i watch cartoons sometimes but even adults watch cartoons. Like simpsons. Its famous. Its not like they are watching baby shows. Dont worry. If the cartoons have some bad stuff in it then tell them that its bad for them to watch. on the screen it tells whether its 14. those numbers mean 14 and over age.
My husband is 39 years old. Hopefully soon he will be too old as it makes me crazy!
Hmmm, interesting question. I don't let my children watch Simpsons or Family Guy or Futurama or any of those - I find them inappropriate and disrespectful to parents. They are actually made for adults not kids.
Their mother loves her children and it's just her way - don't let that get to you. My kids love cartoons and I watch them too. I am 39. It's better than them watching horror, or violence or horrible things or going out and getting into trouble. Let them keep their innocence and enjoy their youth whilst they can.

my 12 year old step son watches these weird baby talk cartoons but he says thats why he likes it because it makes it funny. and his mother babys the crap out of him. but when he is here i treat him like a "teenager/adult" and we talk on that level. and he likes it that way. he tells me i am a kid at my moms but an "adult" with you.
he says to me that he didn't think it at first but he likes knowing that i treat him like his age.

Never too old. If they are watching shows like "Dora the Explorer" then maybe they could stand to change the types of cartoon they are watching. They are a bit young to be watching "Family Guy", "American Dad" and sometimes the "Simpsons". Their Mom needs to get a grip and start talking to them like they are 14 and 11. That may be why they are watching such infantile cartoons.
Hey I would go crazy if i had to be in the same "world" as a child. I would need some outlet rather then the mind numbing poop that kids watch. Since your kids are old enough to read then get them a book so you can have fun.

If people were too old for cartoons they wouldn't make shows like the simpsons and family guy to appeal to young kids and men like my husand :).
You are never too old for cartoons. Even the goofy ones. Kids grow up too fast these days anyway. We watch SpongeBob and other Nickelodeon cartoons as well as the Family Guy and Cartoon Network ones. My son is 9. He is allowed to watch all the cartoons that don't contain realistic nudity and/or drastic uncalled for violence. In other words he can watch Family Guy but not Squidbillies and he is allowed to play war/military games on the playstation but not Grand Theft Auto. Even Disney animated movies contain adult innuendos nowadays. As far as the babyish cartoons, maybe you could offer an alternative, like buying some animated DVD's they can watch instead. Maybe, it could be a rule that they have to watch the ones that annoy you in their bedroom or in a family room or somewhere away from the main TV. As far as how their mother treats them, sorry, but that is one thing you can't change. I take it you have not had the chance to have any children of your own yet. Nothing in the world is a greater silencer of the statement "MY kids will never act like...be raised like...etc..." then bringing one into the world yourself. Nobody knows what kind of parent they will be until they are one, and everyone has their own "best" intentions and parenting style. And it could be worse, their mother could have been neglectful rather than overprotective. What does their dad think about the situation?

First of all The Simpson's and Family guy are not good shows for children to watch. Yes 14 and 11 year olds are still children. Cartoons even if they are silly are good fun for kids. Take Sponge-bob yes it is silly and goofy but what is it hurting I am 38 years old and have three children and I hope like me a part of them will still love cartoons. As for THERE Mom let her treat and love them the way she wants to treat them mom's always look at there children and see there baby's. Now I don't think kids should sit in front of the TV all day . I don't think anymore then two hours a day of any TV is good for children they should be discovering the world around them.

Just repeating what most people have stated. You're never too old for cartoons. The cartoons you are "ok" with I would actually NOT let my kids watch as it is for adults, adult content, sexual inuendos and such, YES, even for a 14 year old. Do not worry about how their mother treats them as you can't do anything about it. There are some other dumb kid cartoons that have come up in recent years but hey, when you were a kid did your parents think that the cartoons You watched were pulitzer prize winners. Leave the kids alone.

Never, lol. If the shows are negatively effecting the kids, then I recommend having their father turn it off, or change channels.
