Is it a bad idea to let a 3 yr. old watch adult horror flix?
What type of problems may arise in the future?
Answer:
It depends which kind. You need to use your own judgement.
You don't want them to have nightmares all night.
You don't want him/her to be watching that stuff right now anyway. Be wise...
yes its bad for a child that young to be watching that stuff he dosent understand it and that its a movie he may end up messed up to some point.
I hope you are kidding on this one. Your child will have horrible nightmares and problems coping with life. There is a reason for the ratings of these movies. Let your child be a child and let her watch cartoons and family films for goodness sake. The world she is growing up in is scary enough.
no nudity of course, just killing. uh duh no! put in a dora, spongebob, or kiddie movie and watch your movie then. you could scar your child for life or give him or her nightmares.
Yes. When I was seven, my parents made the mistake. And I was seven years old- not three. All I remember about that movie was that it was about the devil, and evil- and it was somehow in a cat?
Well, anyway, I was afraid of the dark until I was ten years old since that date. I would start getting paranoid and refer back to that movie, and sometimes I would cry randomly in the middle of the night. Strange noises, like from the furnace, drove me insane to the point where I basically could not be left alone- because I was afraid something would happen. Even though I tried telling myself the movie was just a movie, three years of sleep in my life were ruined.
Do not let your kid watch that movie, especially at the age of three years old.
yes, by 3 years old that child is old enough to get nightmares from what he sees on TV.. my parents let me watch Aliens when I was pretty young and I couldn't sleep at night for a long time.. I still remember how scared I was at night.. it was not fun! :(
YES!! It is very bad! They need to watch shows like barney, blues clues, and that stuff. Horror movies can make them think that all that blood, gore, and scary stuff are real...
VERY!! There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY POSSIBLE to explain that it's just a movie. It's not good for adults to watch it, let alone a 3 year old.
I wouldn't they may not be able to tell the difference between real and fiction. They might have bad dreams, and will wake you up in the middle of the night. Its just not a good idea. Whether or not they think they won't be scared. They still might. Lets just say if you do, don't plan on getting a good nite's sleep.
Your 3 year old would be better off watching a porno than some blood dripping, demon movie. Nudity is natural for kids...not horror.
Exposure to violence and the like can desensitize your child at such a young age. There will be enough happening later in life to emotionally damage them. It's better to try to keep that away for as long as you can.
wth? of course it's bad! you want him to think that's normal at an early age? he'll be scared out his mind whenever you're not around, especially at night! think back to when you were little, if you saw a scary movie, how did you react? did you want the light on all night and get scared of what may be hiding under your bed? do you want that for your kid?
They're too young to reason out good and evil on their own, and they certainly can't understand abstract concepts easily. You would have a dickens of a time trying to get them to understand that saying and doing violent things are inappropriate, since they just saw them in a movie that you allowed them to watch.
Case in point, my niece (4 at the time) came downstairs in the middle of the night, and my mother had fallen asleep on the sofa with a horror flick running. The next day, my niece kept telling everyone that she was going to cut them. Yeah. Lots of fun.
Gets them in trouble at school, and alienates them from playmates as well.
I would say horror movies are not for 3 year olds.
your kidding right? my little ones mommy let him watch Jeepers Creepers at the age of two...he is 5 and STILL has nightmares about the bus scene! Keep it at Scooby Doo...that's scary enough at that age!
What's wrong with you?! Why would you think it is ok to let your 3 year old watch adult horror films? 3 year olds have extremely active imaginations, and repeat everything they hear. I have to be careful which commercials I let my 3 year old watch, because he has a tendency to believe everything he sees on television or in the movies. Do you really want your 3 year old walking around quoting Saw III or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
Well other then his having sleep problems and nightmares I don't see it as being good parenting to allow a child under the age 16 to see horror films. The damage that can be done can take years to repair if they can be repaired. I suggest age appropriate video's or movies such as Barney, Dora the Explorer, and such. My kids loved Barney and my daughter loves Dora but to allow a child that age to watch a horror film would prove disasterous for both of you.
Nothing if you're raising a "Ted Bundy"! Hello? What are you thinkin? Of Course it's a BAD IDEA!
