2 year old has herpes in the mouth...has this happened to you?

+ My son who is 5 gets Canker Sores in his mouth. I took him to the doctor and he said that they will go away in time. and to not put anything on them because it can just make them worst!
He also said that they run in some genes.. Like a family trait!
Sometimes they can take up to a couple of months for them to go away. And they usually will come back.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Give him some Tylenol or Ibuprofen and that should help with the pain he's having.
because he's not eating make sure he is getting alot of fluids so he doesn't get dehydrated.
Where are they located in his mouth? if they are in the opening to the throat and he's having a hard time breathing then get him to the ER.

Is it Herpes or is it a virus LIKE herpes? If its the first one...i have no advice for you, i dont know much about it ...b ut the second one...i had an outbreak of canker sores (i was about 9) they were ALL over my mouth and very painful.there is a medicine called Cank-Aid which burns...but gets rid of them..i dont envy you having to try and get a 2 yr. old to sit still for this! also, rinsing with salt water after eating or drinking...again, it stings, but it helps get rid of them faster. this is what it sounds like because actual Herpes would be a sore on the outside of his mouth right? As long as baby is drinking, he is OK.did Dr. give any medicine to make it go away?
Try looking that up on WebMd on the internet. Never hurts to get 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions along with doing your own research. I mean we all trust the doctors for the most part but sometimes they can leave us in the dark and not to well informed.
if he is drinking, I would substitute pediasure for at least two of his drinks in a day so that he is getting some nutrition as well.

Get some cloraseptic mouth spray and spray it in his mouth. It will numb his mouth so he will feel like eating. My daughter had the same thing when she was little and it really helped. My doctor suggested it.
