A little bit of these things should be taught to children, but up to a certain extent. I would not like to be responsible for the death of someone who dated the mother of some spoiled brat, would you?
At what age are you talking? How about teaching them how to follow their gut instincts? Might help them avoid the situation. How to phone for help, or other means of communication? How about teaching them to think for themselves instead of just following what any adult says to do?

No, we can protect our children by knowing where they are at all times and being willing to go that second step and being there for them. If you can be there with them they don't need to be walking home alone from school. If you can't, make arraignments with someone you know to pick them up. Keep them away from places where you think these people are. You can't kill them all unless they do something. They might mistake a kind helpful person with all the fear you've put in their heads and stab some innocent person. Besides, it's illegal for kids to carry weapons.
