How do i find out if my childminder is registered?

Your local council will generally hold a list of registered childminders. Failing that, try the local Social Services department - I believe they're obliged to maintain a list.
Failing that, you could always ask him/her!
a sexual offender is probably on your state like va.gov or ny.gov like that and it will be on the directory.

I suggest that you politely ask your child minder "just a formality,- I am sure you understand, the way things are these days (smile on face) to give you the appropriate material for any registration/license/ references, whatever - and then check them out. If they come up dud, or the person wiffles and waffles about it, you've got your answer.
ask them for their number - you need it for reimbursement for a small percentage of childcare fees with your child tax credits!
The council will tell you and she should have her own certificate for you to see. Ask her. If she is genuine she will be used to being asked. Don't be afraid..ASK

Childminders are governed by Ofsted - they will be able to tell you if she is registered. You could ask to see her Ofsted report, also she should have a registration number. If she is not registered she should not be accepting payment from you and also she will not be insured. If she is not registered it would be very unwise to stay with her because she is breaking the law.
well you should have seen her up to date certificate before you child even went to stay with her, she has to have a fire safety certificate as well ask to see this if you don't want her to know ask social services to send you a list if her names not on it then there's no way she's registered, her certificate should be on display so you can see it mine is..

They will also provide info about playgroups and drops in with your kids. Having moved 3 times with a 2 year old I have found them really helpful
