Mothers Against Drunk Driving?

I am very interested in getting involved with this program but have no clue where to start. Does anyone know? Are any other parents involved or passionate about this topic? What do you feel about even drinking around children? I'm just curious! Thanks!

Answer:
You should look up MADD on line...they can tell you. I don't drink, I have never had alcohol in my life, my husband is an alcoholic who has been sober for 22 years. We do not allow alcohol in our home, even for adults.

People say if you don't let your kids drink at home, they will do it elsewhere and it is bull. Your children will simply drink at home AND at parties. It is against the law for children under 21 to drink alcohol.parents should not give their children permission to break the law.

My in-laws drink, several of my friends drink, and provided they don't drive (or barf in my car) I have no problem with that.

It takes a child under 21 much less time to become addicted to a substance than a fully matured body.as little as 6 months.
i am anti drinking and driving dose not matter if it's around children or not it's STUPID and dangerous. MADD has a web page.
I'm very passionate about this topic; i think anyone who gets behind the wheel of a car after drinking is a potential murderer.

As for drinking alcohol around kids, well it depends on what the context is. If it's once a year at xmas, when the whole family is together, that's ok i spose.

But if it's everyday, binge drinking that leads to physical and emotional abuse, then ofcourse kids shouldnt be subjected to that.

Hope that helps you..

PS;Don't worry about those people who give you the thumbs down; it just inflates their tiny little ego's to criticise someone.

Kudos to you, that is awesome that you want to be part of such a wonderful organization. There need to be more people like you in this world! I personally do not agree with drinking around kids. I don't see the harm in having a glass of wine with dinner, but more than that, no way. They don't need to be exposed to that.
