7 mo baby sleeping face down.?

My 7 mo baby has just tonight started to turn himself over. Each time i have gone to check on him he has had his face buried in the mattress & his head has not been tilted to the side. I'm afraid of SIDS. I don't want to go to sleep & leave him in his cot tonight for fear of this. Any ideas/answers to my dilemma.

Answer:
Once they roll over let them be. On the back is for babies who can't roll over on their own and have no control over their necks yet.
Hun please dont panic i am a mum of 3 my youngest is 11 months. babies turn them self over and there is nothing you can do. your baby can roll over on his own. it is recomended that YOU do not put them on their tums if they do it there self its another matter.

please dont live in fear of sids i did with my first and was exhausted
good luck
try laying him on his side and prop him with rolled up blankets on either side so he can't roll over on his face, they also make baby props for that too if you want to buy one instead. he will be safe sleeping like that.GOOD LUCK!!
i used to put pillows at his side (either side of his torso) so he could`nt turn onto his front, after a while they get used to it and you can take the pillows away
My twins roll during the night to, but they started at 4 months. Yes it's stressful with the thought of SIDS and all, but your baby will be just fine. If you want assurance then watch them this weekend during a nap. You'll see that you baby is more active than you think when they sleep.
My dear I think this baby is your first. There is no reason for panic. I went through this experience too. You will get use to it.
Can you put one side of you baby next to the edge of the crib and roll a towel on the other side. Would this keep the baby from rolling, or would it be worse. Good Luck.
As long as you are putting your baby to sleep on his back, it's okay if he turns over at night. A 7 month old is much less likely to die of SIDS than a newborn simply b/c their muscles and organs are more developed. Just make sure you do not have any thick blankets, pillows, stuffed animals or toys in the crib when you put him down. Also, DO NOT smoke around him or in the house. This is the leading cause of SIDS related deaths. And relax, your baby will be fine.
my children prefer to sleep on that way, too but with thier head tilted to the side and even as young as 1 month old they know how to tilt their head to the other side.in your case get him a pillow-i don't know what's it called-that has a side support that way it will prevent him from turning over when he's asleep.check it out at your nearest dept store..they can help you with your problem..good luck
Honey, if he's turning himself over, there's not much one can do. You might try not using a pillow if you are using one. Doctors seem to change their mind about baby's every ten years. Lay them on their stomachs, don't do it, do it.SIDS...blah blah blah. It's ok to worry about your child, but you need your rest too so that you can properly take care him also. Besides that, get your significant other up and let him do some checking. My wife didn't breast feed, so I did the bedtime/nighttime routine. She probably got up maybe 5 times with our first son, and about 1/2 the time with our second son.
My boys wouldn't go to sleep because the formula made them gassy and the Mylecon drops only helped so much. So, I did what my mom said she did to me as a baby, and I put them on their stomachs when they were belly achin'. I turned their head to the side and patted them on the butt for about 5 minutes, and they were out. They're 5 and 7 now. I don't believe in SIDS...I do believe that for whatever reason, God has a greater need/use for some children and takes them when it's time.
Love and enjoy your time with your child and let tomorrow worry about itself.
Know what they used to do at the day care- put him on his back when he goes to sleep in the mean time do not make the blanket loose- tuck it on the sides so he cannot put it over his head. Rolling over isnt a big deal all babies do it, just if your up at night go in every once in a while and roll him over but if he seems ok just let him be. I would worry more about this if he was 2 or 3 months.
My kids did that so i went and bought a tea tree mattress avaliable in all baby stores. if the baby lays face down there is no way for them to suffocate
I agree with some answers here.
My son did the same thing as a baby.
And I was also scared of SIDS myself also.

Just keep an eye on him. You're a super mom!!

Best of Luck
turn him over soon as you notice i did that when i was a baby now i look like a pug lol. na dont worry about it and dont put other things such as props and extra pillows in there if he roles over and cant role back then hed have a problem jus check on him if you wake and leave him to it im sure hell be fine!
