Why do kids??
Answer:
Probably because it annoys us parents so much. :-) I don't even like some of the music I LOVED as a kid anymore, probably because there's no one to annoy with it anymore.
Join the club. I used to hear it from my parents, and now, I have the same situation with children.
They want to feel a sort of independent identity apart from what you like and such. We did it, and now they do. It's perfectly normal, but I certainly understand the frustration.
Because it is trendy/popular. And they want to be seen as trendy and popular.
Because they like whatever the "crowd" is listening to. And, they like driving us crazy!
I think it is mainly because you don't, but they do, so it is a tribal thing.
We all turn in to our parents.
You know your going to have to ask a kid that!! They think its cool i guess. My 7 year old loves to listen to some guy named Kanye West the reason of that is because she thinks we are related to him because our last name is west!!
For the same reason you did when your parents asked you that question.
Because 20, 30, 40 years ago, music was completely different. Music has evolved. Some has gotten better, some worse. Kids will either listen to what sounds good to them, or listen to what they think will make them cool to their peers. It really has nothing to do with their parents. I dont listen to the stuff I listen to just to spite my parents. They just grew up with an entirely different genre of music. I do like some of it, but I prefer the sounds of today.
Edit: And why does my answer get a thumbs down? People need to open up their minds to ALL viewpoints, not just the answers that fit what the questioner wants to hear.
My 2 year olds like the silly songs from cartoons and stuff. I think it's because it is repetitive. The silly songs often have exciting beats to them also and the kids like to dance around to it.
