When do you let your kids wash totally without your help?

i have a 4 year old and i wash him and sometimes i let him wash hiself but i know he is not quite ready to wash his self totally by his self when are they are ready to do that at. At what age is average that they start too wash by themselves totally without help.

Answer:
your child will let you know . there's no time that any child will do anything so just be there until your not wanted. you'll find this works for most things lol!
my four year old daughter does most of her washing by hrself. i just wash her hair. usuallu all you have to do at this age is tell them where to wash
Every child is different. Mine have usually been ready between 4 and 5, but I still check my 6 and 8 year olds. They tend to get lazy and not wash everything. If you don't use it, it doesn't get dirty, right? Good Luck
My oldest is 7 1/2 and I put her towl and stuff out for her and she does it herself. I do go in and out to see if she "does" need help. but she does fine. My son is 5 and I check up on him (because he squeezes all the soap out) or makes a mess hehe... but 4 it a bit too young.. I would still stick around and start teaching him to do it on his own while you watch and go from there. GOOD LUCK!
Well it depends on the child's muscle strength . if you are fairly sure that he wont make a mess and has seen you do it enough times then let him wash himself. Let him do it then the first time look in and check if everything is o.k. then gradually start looking in on him less and less.
well my daughter is seven and she washes herself independintly, though my son being a dope lol, will need my help fore ever,lol...nah i think as soon as u r happy with them doin i properly then stop.or if they feel they don,t need ur help,i give em a sponge with some shower gel on and tell em to wash there neck and under there arms and also there private bits,i help with there back,...we make a giggle bout there bits i turn my back while they wash there giggly bits as they call em lol,
I don't have any kids, but I remeber my mom helped me with my hair until I was about 6, but other than that I washed myself. She'd just check on me.
I have 8 year old twins. The boy does a pretty good job so I don't have to worry too much about him, but the girl can't quite get the hair thing right. I think it depends on the kid really.
My 7 year old daughter just started taking showers by herself.
when the child has hand / eye coordination. washing themselves really helps with hand/eye coordination, so it's probably best to observe for a while to make sure it's done correctly.

i have a 19 yr old stepdaughter who called me the other day wanting me to come over to wash her back. she said she missed me giving her a bath. how strange is that? i didn't go.
