2 yr ols screaming/crying in sleep?

My daughter has been screaming/crying in her sleep for a few weeks, sometimes 4 times a night, others none. She opens her eyes sometimes <not everynight> doesn't seem to be awake. The episode lasts up to 1-2 minutes and then she is quite. What is this? Thanks!

my sister use to do that when she was that age come to find out my father had molested her, not saying that has happened but i would try talking to her about "touches" and i know she is only 2 but she can tell you alot if you watch her and listen to her or have her checked by a doctor if you think that may have happened
Sounds like a nightmare to me.

(I still remember one of my early nightmares. I was around 2. The visual image was of a whale, off in the distance. That's it -- it wasn't even swiming towards me or anything -- but I was terrified.)

I really thing nightmares are more about the chemicals (hormones) being released than the imagery.

And if anyone has any ways to deal with them, I'll be watching this post! (My 2-year-old is starting to have bad dreams, too.)
