I'd pursue it he could be the next Ted Bundy or anyone of the other crazy serial rapist or killers. Maybe pursuing it would expose his intentions early on because I don't care what anyone says it's not a joke.
Keep your phone away from your daughter, every cell phone has a lock feature you should use it. Your daughter is to young to be playing with any ones cell for let alone answering it. He wont figure out where you live, unless you give him your address. I wouldn't be to concerned unless its someone that you know.
You filed a report, and apparently this guy only knows your phone number... let it go, or you will drive yourself crazy! Unless you think this guy knows more about you or where you live, but do you have any reason to think that? If it happens again, call the cops again, they can't just ignore it if it keeps happening. Good luck! Remember, he can't hurt you or your family through a phone.
I'd consider changing my number. Don't let your 8 year old daughter near the cell phone.

wow. I would definetely watch out and see if they do it again. I can definetely understand your concern and where you are coming from. Definetely keep an eye on it and if he does it again, maybe you could forward it or save it to show the police. I would insist that the cops do something. You should call them back and insist that they contact this boy's parents or file some sort of charges against this kid! If they do not follow through, contact a superior officer. It is reprehensible that they would try to blow this off.
Contact your phone company and have his number blocked from calling your phone.
Change your number ASAP! Keep your phone on lock, if it equipped with a password.

keep that text so if you get another one you can show it again to the police. More than one txt surely they will have to do something about it. Remember he only has your phone number not your address. Another thing to do would be to call you mobile phone provider and discuss it with them what to do. It may be they can trace it back to him and do something, even if it is to talk to his parents.. Don't let your daughter answer the phone for a while. It is just a sick kid who thinks this is funny. If it is really bothering you why not talk to the police again and ask to talk to a superior. Explain you are very upset over this (as I would be too) and how hard is it for them to simply call him (your phone should have recorded his number ) and explain what will happen if he does it again.
