Why do parents give their baby's drugs ?

Baby Orajel: Active ingredient Benzocaine.
"Keep Out Of Reach From Children" In bold letters just like toothpaste. An anesthetic is a drug, so why do you give your children drugs.

Answer:
What else do you propose we do when children are in pain? Just talk them out of it, say it doesn't hurt at all? Benzocaine is a local anestetic, it is harmless in small doses. It says keep out of reach of childern because you don't want childrent to play with it and consume too much of it.

I disagree with those who say it is better for them to suffer through the "natural" pain. Pain and depression and other bad emotions experienced for a long periods of time are linked to imbalances in brain chemistry. A person might get mentally ill if made suffer physically as a child for too long.
Just for fun!
lazy and stupid
Because these are the same people that lock their kids in closets and starve them and the same ones that shop at Wal-mart and work at McDonalds.
A baby can have that in small doses. They tell you to keep it out of their reach because a small child doesn't know what an appropriate dose size is.

When you're older and if you ever have children, you'll see the pain they go through while teething. Then you'll know why Baby Orajel can be a god send for the child.and the parents who don't like to see their baby in pain.
I dont think parents give children anesthetic, its the drug they give you when you go under surgery. Its pain numbing.
As sad as it sounds a I believe that a lot of them do it just so they can get some rest.

Mean while that are too lazy to get to the root of the problem.
not all of us do. there are natural ways to care for a child without drugging it up. icy washcloths, massaging the child's gum with your finger.
When ever some one says "drugs" they automaticly think: "cocain, heroin, marajuana" but drug is a term for medicine and people perverted it into saying 'All Drugs Are Bad'
some drugs never is bad. I mean like drugs in medcine, toothpaste,
shampoo. Cocaine, weed, and type drugs like that is bad ut medicine drugs is never bad(unless u had too much)
because their mouth would be numb from baby orajel and they could bite their tongue or something of that nature so only parents should use it for them and monitor them, keep out of the child's reach who knows what they would do with it eat more than they should
when something says keep out of reach of children, it means that if a baby or child gets a hold of the package and swallows all of it, it can be poisonous. baby orajel is formulated (if used correctly) not to hurt the baby.

when teething, teething iself can make the baby sick to it's stomach, tired, cranky, and not to mention make eveyrone else tired and cranky. using baby orajel will calm the baby, and let it sleep a little bit. all baby medication is 'safe' for babies, as long as they dont' get a hold of the package...
Well... the truth is that if the baby eat or drink or taste or what ever to drug, they don't get hungry. So... the parent don't want to feed them so they give them drugs. like if they don't got money for it.
The toothpaste, i think becuz they don't believe its bad for the baby. its dumb but it happens.
You have a very, very good point. Actually, toothpaste is poison, as is Orajel. However, if you use it, and, spit it out without swallowing any, it's okay. I think babies should just have it rubbed gentley on their gums, and, given baby tylenol. I so agree with your question though. !!~~~
Baby Orajel, like many medicines, is formulated specifically for infants. A responsible parent can give a child the proper dose to relieve pain without causing illness or harm. The "Keep Out Of Reach Of Children" warning is to prevent kids from slurping down the whole tube or bottle, which would be dangerous.
What is wrong with giving one's children drugs? Should we not give them antibiotics when they have infections?

If you are trying to blur the distintion between recreational drugs, and those which are designed to heal, then you are doing a rather poor job...Btw, get one.
gee, if your baby had pneumonia, would you give her antibiotics? why, you want her to be some kind of druggie? gosh, if she has cancer, you won't give her any chemo, will you? no drugs allowed.
Just wait till you haven't had sleep for 3 nights because the baby's crying, and let's see what stupid things you do!

We've become a society with no discipline and the overwhelming desire to have what we want RIGHT NOW! We're soft. We're self absorbed. Drugs make things right. And the drug companies have told us that all our lives.

They wouldn't lie to us, would they?
because everyone inlcuding most pediatricians tell them to. Benzocaine is a topical anesthectic and while there are side effects they are very rare. I gave my son all natural things to relieve the pain from teething but if Orajel was all I could get then I would use it so my son wouldnt be in pain. Given in the right dosage it is safe for infants. Keep out of reach of children is so that the kid doesnt get the cap off and ingest the whole tube. Infabt tylenol sayd Keep out of reach of children. Are you against giving infant tylenol to babies too?
You must support abuse or torture. What else do you do for the poor baby. IT SAYS BABY Orajel. You're not supposed to squeeze the whole tube into their little mouth. Just a tiny bit if teething rings don't help. I certainly woudln't want my little ones aching in pain. It the recommended amount was harmful, the FDA wouldn't have approved it.
Just like it says BABY ORAJEL. For a baby. You don't give the child the whole thing just the recommended amount. Just like you don't give the whole container of Tylenol to them when sick. To much of anything if harmful that is why there is directions on the packages.
Baby vitamins say "Keep out of reach from children" as well. Actually, most everything says that. Band aids, toothpaste, shampoo, soap,.etc...
