How do you find child care for shift work on a regular basis?
Is this a common problem? Do you find this? I am a single mom and no family in town
Answer:
My husband owns a business where the employees are shift workers. Lots of them have kids and it is difficult for them to find childcare sometimes. Most of them grew up in this town though so they always end up dumping the kids on the parents if their sitter drops out at the last minute.
Per your last post, I think you should go back to school. You'll get financial aid while you're in school, and most universities (at least the two I attended) have daycares. And when you're done you'll be able to get a much more stable and better paying job.
Where I live there are a lot of people who work shift work. The local day cares noticed this and expanded their hours. I am sure you have already searched all the daycares but have you brought this to their attention. Ask them if they would be willing to extend their hours if there were enough people. Also, ask some of your co-workers who have children were their kids stay at. They may have suggestions for you. I hope this helps.
