When a woman is pregnant - does she get bad belly pains?

Pains are central and low down, when sitting on the loo it feels like their insides may fall out and sometimes makes sitting uncomfortable, even when walking you can still feel it?
I am asking on behalf of someone.

Answer:
sometimes when a woman's belly is stretching, it may cause her discomfort. it can feel like cramping too. depending on how far along she is. it could also be braxton hicks, temporary contractions preparing the uterus for labor later on. when i was pregnant both times i was very uncomfortable. and like your friend, just sitting was painful. i had one baby whose head was down, and one who was breech (feet first). the first one, i felt so much pressure, especially when her head dropped into my pelvis. i could barely walk! and it did feel like i was going to burst out at any moment (sorry about the description) just make sure she tells her doctor at her next visit for safe measure. good luck.
Only when they are in labour!
Otherwise that is not normal at all
have her go to the doctor. any pains in the lower abdomin is bad.
May be best that you seek professional medical help :-)
she could have a cyst on her ovary, it's quite common in pregnant woman it's harmless to the baby, i have one on my left ovary and sometimes it's quite pain-full, or it could just be her uterus stretching to allow room for the baby that can sometimes be pain-full too.
Well, how far along is she. If she is close to her due date then i would call the Dr. But if she is early on then it could be that she is growing. But I would still call a Dr. If her Dr's office is not open then call your local hospital and talk to the OBGYN on call.
sounds like pressure on the pubic bone, this softens during pregnancy and can actually split. She should get it checked, Im no expert, just sounds like what my friend had.
I think you can..maybe she should check it out with her doc! ive had 3 kids !baby can put pressure on bladder! also when is it due cauz you need to rule out contractions!!
I am 9 weeks pregnant and i have had really bad belly pains, mine are low down and they started in the middle and now they are on the left, i have been hospital and they dont know what the problem is. First they told me it was period pain then a bladder infection, ive had medication but its still here. I dont know if its normal but if it is then this is going to be my first and last child lol
This is not normal...seek medical help ASAP
ho far along is she? im 16 weeks and i have similar pains in my lower central abdomen and when i stand up, walk, cough etc and my midwife told me it was most likely ligament pain as everything starts to stretch and move
It is probably round ligament pain. Our bodies do a lot of stretching to make room for the baby and even things like your appendix get moved around, so some discomfort is normal. I went through the same thing, but when in doubt it is always best to be checked by your doctor. Better safe than sorry. Good luck to your friend.
does it feel like a bad period pain? i had the same when i was pregnant and soon started to bleed, had to have emergency c/section. i would advise she phones her midwife or doctors for advice a.s.a.p.
Sounds like SPD (Symphysis Pubis Disfunction). It's when the ligaments around the pelvis soften to allow the pelvic bones move to accomodate pregnancy and labour. This may cause the pelvic bones to move out of alignment, causing discomfort, a sense of 'pullin' on the cartilage at the symphysis pubis (where the pelvic bones join at the front). This can start as early as 12 weeks. Symptoms include pubic pain, low back pain and 'clicking' in the hip when you walk. If this sounds like what you are feeling speak to your doctor.

Osteopathy and chiropractic treatments work the best for this problem. Also try sleeping with pillows between your legs and under your bump and ry swimming and water aerobics (although avoid breaststroke) and avoid bending where possible. Your doctor may even be able to give you a support belt.

The good news is that it normally disappears after delivery so you won't have it forever.

Hope this helps.
am 16 weeks and since the beginning i felt like that i was so scar i went running to my obgyn she told me that is normal just to remember that my uterus is smaller than a lime and every minute is growing and stretching to give it time it will go away!! but if it done pls take her asap to the er or her doc office..
Pains in pregancy are common as the body, womb and muscles are stretched and organs move to make way for the growing baby. Most often it is a result of round ligament pain. Round ligament pain is due to normal changes that take place as the body is transformed by pregnancy. There are other, abnormal, treatable causes of pain that a health care provider may want to check. Therefore, any new or significant pain should be reported to a doctor or midwife.

I did have pains like mild cramping with two of my pregnancies which were as a result of the uterus expanding and round ligament pain with one. I also felt the pressure in the bladder when the baby's head became engaged. However these pains are uncomfortable rather than excrutiating and is not in the same league as the pain and cramping from a miscarriage or labour pains. If the pain is intense than get your friend to seek medical opinion immediately.

Hi just read the comment on SPD above. Have had two friend with this and this pain is excrutiaiting with both being unable to walk without crutches, lying in bed was agony as was climbing up stairs. Have included a link at the end for this too. good luck!
It's more polite to refer to the 'tummy' when referring to a woman's stomach. Only pigs have 'bellies.'
Every pregnancy is different. When i fell pregnant for the first 12 weeks i had pains similar to period pains i was told that it was common and after that the only pains i got before labour were when the baby was sitting akwardly. Better to get a test though
